In this video you will see, American a pointer, bred and whelped at Barillà Kennels Canada.
You will see, Snakefoot Remi, learning about how to become a steady to wing and shot trained gun dog.
We have allowed typical errors made by young dogs and champions, be seen in this video. This is for the viewers to understand that every dog makes mistakes.
Without them, we cannot correct the dogs we train to teach them how to be, when finding birds.
Remi is almost fully trained. Here, he is going through training on pointing and watching birds fly.
This is the second last step of his training. Once he has learned to watch birds fly, and only move after a shot is fired, he will learn to retrieve.
Remi has been slowly learning how to retrieve without the use of force, and has been given the time to let the pieces come together in his mind about how finding birds and retrieving birds come together.
In this video you will witness him finding multiple birds and having a consistent solid point. He demonstrates intensity, passion, excitement, patience and respect while trying to locate them, pointing them, waiting for the birds to be flushed, and then chasing them.
He will try to get two birds in his mouth but will fail both times. This happens when a puppy or a champion just want that bird! 😂🤣 It’s ok we get it! It’s part of the learning process!!
