What’s your New Year’s resolution? 🥳🎉

We have a few, but high on the list is seeing our sweet Angel find her forever home! 🤞🏻🐈

Just shy of 6 months old, Angel is a hilariously funny and playful kitten. We are always delighted to see her run around, hide in cat tunnels, and roll around on the floor with toys. Even in these photos, you can tell how “roly-poly” she is! ☺️

Angel adores wet food and lickable treats — so much so, that she will chat softly with you to get some. She will also talk to you to get pets and cuddles. When you pick her up, you’ll love how deep her purr is and if you’re lucky, the nose kisses she gives you! She’s so sweet. 🥹

This girl is always ready to play and be social. She gets along with everyone, and we recommend she be adopted into a home with another feline to play with.

Although our social media may have been quiet over the last week, it was anything but a *silent night* at **Biscuits and Purrs Cat Rescue** 🐾✨ Behind the scenes, carriers were opening, whiskers were twitching, and many new lives were welcomed into our care.

🐱 **Egg Nog & Joy**
Sweet Egg Nog, an 8-month-old kitten, arrived alongside Joy (1.5 years) after being rescued from a difficult living situation. They’re safe, settling in, and ready for brighter days ahead 🌟

💔 **Justin & Mercy**
Justin and Mercy came to us following a heartbreaking situation that left them in need of safety, stability, and love. We’re so grateful they’re now in our care 🤍

👑 **Princess, Bailey & Shadow**
Princess (7 years), Bailey (1.5 years), and senior Shadow (13 years) arrived together after the passing of their owner. We’re honoured to care for this sweet family as they navigate such a big change 🌈

🐾 **Briana, Coca & Stevie**
This trio arrived together and are already leaning on one another as they settle into rescue life 💕

🎉 **Woody, Giglia & Bentley**
Woody (7 months), Giglia (7 months), and Bentley (8 months) joined us as a group and are ready to bring plenty of kitten energy and joy 🐈💥

🐾 **Our Solo Kitten Arrival**
One tiny kitten also arrived on their own, joining our care as a single intake. They’re now safe, warm, and surrounded by love as they start their journey with us 🍼🐱

👑Princess👑 She’s here to show you just how elegant and beautiful she is 😻

Princess came into care when her owner sadly passed away. She is a very special lady with a heart as big as her personality ❤️ Princess is incredibly friendly and was obviously looked after very well!

Princess may need a few days to earn your trust, but once she comes out of her shell, she will be your best friend😻 She loves a good neck rub, it absolutely will make her love you! Princess is a bit on the chunky side right now (she’s a lady so she doesn’t like to discuss her weight), but she still loves playing with her wands toy 🪄 She may need a bit of encouragement, but she still has some s***k for an almost 8-year old lady 👑

Princess would love a soft and caring home to land in! She’s an absolutely beautiful calico, and had lots of love to show off😻 She can’t wait to find her forever home🏡 that will treat her like the Princess she is 👑

This Week’s In the Spotlight: Ruth, Adoption Screener

This segment regularly highlights the volunteers at BPCR who give so generously of their time. We thank them for their support, commitment, and friendship to our registered charity.

Born in Kingston, Ruth grew up in a home where a love of animals was deeply rooted. Her dad was a devoted pet lover who taught her that pets aren’t just animals living in your house—they are family. When her uncle’s cat had kittens, Ruth and her sister each chose one. When the cats eventually passed, her dad buried them in the backyard, even making a cross headstone for Ruth’s beloved Sooty. That experience left a lasting impression about the care and respect animals deserve.

That legacy continues today. Ruth’s extended family now includes seven dogs and nine cats between them, and the family cottage is full every summer with friends, family, and their pets. Her dad would have been very happy.

Ruth was following Biscuits and Purrs Cat Rescue on social media when she saw a call for volunteers at PetSmart Barrhaven. There, she met fellow volunteer Donna S. and recalls receiving such a warm and welcoming introduction. Ruth began volunteering three one-hour shifts per week. Around the same time, she became pre-approved to adopt, as her cat had sadly passed away over Easter weekend.

Feeling ready to open her heart and home again, Ruth adopted Zoey, a tabby from PetSmart Barrhaven—now lovingly renamed Petunia. More recently, she also adopted Flower, now called Poppy, and her home is officially in full bloom.

When a call went out for adoption screeners, Ruth realized how much she enjoyed chatting with potential adopters in-store and saw an opportunity to help even more. She loves matching cats in foster care with their future families and working alongside like-minded, cat-loving people. Now fully immersed in adoption screening, Ruth completes about one screening per weekday—helping facilitate approximately five adoptions each week.

A retired kindergarten teacher, Ruth’s lifelong passions have always been children and cats. After taking some time to enjoy retirement, she felt ready to give back in a meaningful way.

Her favourite thing about BPCR is the strong sense of community. Friendships have formed, she feels a true sense of belonging, and she enjoys connecting with others who share her love for cats.

Ruth says the team does an incredible job preparing cats for their forever homes—from fosters who socialize and nurture them, to the transformation of cats coming from situations of neglect or violence into open-hearted companions ready for love.

Ruth would also like to remind everyone of the importance of spaying and neutering pets—it’s a priority, not something to put off.

Please join us in thanking Ruth for her many contributions to Biscuits and Purrs Cat Rescue. She has become an essential part of the team, helping adopters find their forever friends both in-store and over the phone.

💚 3 little siblings waiting on their forever adventures 💚

💚Lenny💚
This handsome, silky-soft black kitten is as sweet and affectionate as they come. Once his true personality bursts out, he’s curious, cuddly, playful, and ready to love his humans with his whole heart😻

Lenny loves cuddles and will climb onto your lap, your shoulders, your back—any cozy spot he can find on you. He loves pets everywhere: head, back, chin, paws, belly! You can even hold him like a baby and rub his belly!
While he’s active and playful, Lenny can also be wonderfully calm and laid-back when it’s time to relax or sleep. His favourite toys are little plastic springs, but he’ll also chase toy mice, strings, or anything fun!

💚Stripes💚
This handsome black kitten has the most unique dark stripe markings that peek through his fur. Stripes is a sweet, loving boy who may be a little timid at first, but once his curiosity takes over, his affectionate personality shines!

Stripes enjoys cuddles on his terms. He loves to flop onto his back, showing off his belly, and purring loudly for those beloved belly rubs. He also adores gentle pets on his head, back, chin, and even his paws. This boy is an active, playful kitten who loves toy mice, strings, and pretty much anything he can get his paws on—but his absolute favourite toys are the little plastic springs!

💚Toes💚
Toes is the sweetest little girl with a whole lot of love to give. She may be a bit shy and timid when meeting new people, but once she feels safe, she becomes the cuddliest companion! Toes happily snuggles on your lap, your neck, or anywhere she can be close, purring loudly the entire time. She adores being petted head to toe, but her absolute favourite is being cradled like a baby while you rub her belly!

Toes is the perfect mix of playful and affectionate—active and curious, yet wonderfully calm and cuddly when she’s ready to relax. Toes loves all toys she can get her paws on!

They would be thrilled to be adopted with each other, but as long as they have a feline friend to show them the ropes, they will each thrive!💚💚💚

🎁 The Best Kind of Gift to End the Year 🎁

Our hearts are overflowing as we celebrate Posie, Pancake, Murphy, Simon, Jet, Jacky, Stanley, and Zena— all heading into 2026 with something truly priceless: a forever home. 🏡💛

There’s no better way to close out 2025 than watching these kitties leave our care and step into lives filled with love, warm beds, and families who chose them. This final round of adoptions reminds us exactly why we do this — every goodbye is a happy one when it means a new beginning.

🐾 While humans are busy recycling mountains of cardboard, our cats are celebrating the most important holiday of the year: Box Appreciation Day. 📦

Why do cats love boxes so much?
Because boxes are:
• Luxury studio apartments
• Fortresses of solitude
• Time machines (no one can prove otherwise)
• And the perfect place to ignore the expensive bed you just bought them

This Boxing Day, if you’re wondering why your cat has chosen a battered box over your lap, don’t take it personally. Boxes are warm, mysterious, and make cats feel safe—kind of like Biscuits and Purrs Cat Rescue. 😉

🎄 Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays from Biscuits & Purrs Cat Rescue! 🎄

As we wrap up another incredible year, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to every single one of you. Because of your kindness, generosity, and unwavering support, close to 700 cats and kittens found loving homes in 2025, with many more still in our care. We could not do this without you. 💛🐾

The requests for help never end, but thanks to this amazing community, we continue to say “yes” to the cats who need us most.

As we head into the holiday season, we’d like to share a few gentle reminders to help keep your pets safe:
✨ Be mindful with wrapping-paper and decorations. Cats (and dogs!) love to bat, chew, and play with festive décor. It may look cute, but if ingested it can lead to an unwanted emergency vet visit.

✨ Watch your doors. With guests coming and going, it’s easy for curious pets to slip outside. Please keep them safely away from busy entryways to prevent accidental escapes.

Adoptions are on hold until the New Year, but you’re absolutely welcome to peek at our available cats and kittens—there’s always someone adorable waiting to steal your heart. Our team is taking a much-needed and well-deserved break, so we kindly ask for your patience if responses take a little longer than usual. 💕
