RECENT UPDATE! There has been an update from the CDC regarding taking dogs to the US. Please visit:

The US no longer requires any export form from a Canadian vet which is great news!
While the "CDC dog import form" does not require rabies vaccination information, it may still be a requirement of the individual State you are traveling to so we still recommend bringing an up to date Vaccine Certificate with you. You would have been emailed this certificate after any appointments where vaccines had been given but we can also email you the most current version anytime.

Please be aware and ensure that you are planning well in advance of any travel to and from the United States with your dog to ensure you are meeting these new requirements effective August 1, 2024.

Starting on August 1, all dogs entering the U.S. (including those that left the U.S. and are returning, and regardless of the country they are coming from) must be:
• healthy upon arrival
• at least 6 months of age
• microchipped
• accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt and required vaccination and veterinary documents.

Additional requirements may apply depending on where the dog has been in the last 6 months and whether or not the dog was vaccinated in the United States.

The last week of the Veterinary Outreach Cross Canada Community Challenge is upon us! Veterinary Outreach have been running a large operation in Ottawa for the past 20 years. Nancy and Dakota clocked in at 5km/hr on their morning walk. That would be 4 straight hours of walking for the average homeless person at this rate every day. Wouldn’t it be great if we saved ourselves a 4 hour walk and instead offered $1.00 per km ($20.00) to this great cause? Fiona's dental cleaning

Why do pets need to be under general anesthesia for dental cleaning? The answer is fairly simple: in order to scale and polish all of their teeth at all angles, especially scaling under the gum line, it is simply impossible to do properly with the pet awake. Unlike a person in a dental chair, we cannot reason with the pet as to why they need to keep completely still while we put metal, vibrating, weird, noisy instruments into their mouth and perform a procedure for a significant period of time that may be uncomfortable for them. Physical restraint is not an option. Even if it was possible and as well behaved your pet is, it would be extremely stressful for your pet and it would be unlikely that each tooth could be properly cleaned and graded, and that scaling under the gum line could be done properly.

Kilo is excited to hear his mom's voice!

Kilo had a dental and spent the day with us and received a lot of loving from the staff but this was his reaction as soon as he heard his mom's voice! So darn cute!
