HARRY POTTER CAMP OTTAWA
July 15-19, 2024
Stillwater Stables
5219 Russel Rd
9am - 4 pm
For Witches and Wizards 7 - 13 year old
Attention all Witches and Wizards, Hogwarts is opening its doors for only one week, packed with magical adventures, this summer.
Hurry and let our summer staff know if you would like to attend!
Your adventure will begin with receiving your own acceptance letter to Hogwarts, as well as a ticket to Hogwarts Express, by Hogwarts Owl mail. To catch the train, you need to make your way to the StillWater Stables and locate platform 9 3/4. Where you will present your ticket to a conductor and board the train. We recommend wearing your muggle attire to not attract any unwanted attention.
Please note, that Stables is going to be not only your classroom for the week but also a dwelling for many different magical creatures. Your days here will be split between half a day for learning magic and half a day of equestrian instructions.
On your first day, upon your arrival, you will be sorted into 4 different Hogwarts houses by the sorting hat at the Great Hall. You will join your house and will compete for points in all kinds of exciting adventures. The winning house, with the most points, will be announced at the end of the week.
The adventures that await you are a visit to Eyelope Emporium where we will learn more about majestic Owls and their important role in the wizarding world. In addition, we will learn how to transfigure regular wood into your very own pet owl that will deliver you mail every day while at Hogwarts.
We will attempt to save small animals that unfortunately are trying to make their burrows around Whomping Willow, without getting whomped.
We'll use a Portkey to travel to Ollivanders and learn the ancient art of wand-making. And once we find that very special wand that chooses us, we'll be ready to attend Defence Against the Dark Arts classes. In those classes, we'll learn how to defend ourselves and others against dementors. And will practice what we've learned on Boggarts.
In Transfiguration, we'll learn how to transform a regular t-shirt into house colors Quidditch jersey. And once we have our jerseys, we'll attend flying lessons, learn Quidditch rules, and have a game.
In Divination, we'll learn about fortune-telling and astrology. We'll take a peek into our future and learn more about our horoscope sign, its constellation, and how to map it out.
On an official Hogwarts Business field trip, we'll visit Gringotts to check out cash from personal volts. That trip is followed by a visit to Honey Duckes for some exciting treats. And we will stop by a very special room, full of challenges to be solved, using your wit and working as a team to be able to escape.
In Potions, we'll brew Polyjuice Potion and will try transforming into someone else.
There will be a relay to save the Philosopher's Stone from getting into the wrong hands.
Every day of the camp, you can count on receiving the Daily Prophet with fresh news and side quests and challenges. And you can always count on a good old Trivia.
We'll celebrate the week at Hogsmead with butterbeer and a colorful chalk powder fireworks and cola explosions.
The week starts with fun ice breakers to make everyone comfortable and feel included in the group. There are always thought provoking Harry Potter inspired questions to ponder on throughout the day. They tend to inspire campers (and even some counselors) to pick up the books again and re-read the entire series.
In Harry Potter part of the camp, there is 1 instructor and 2 counselors for every 12 kids at a time. The camp takes place both inside and outside. Inside, we have a large air-conditioned room with tables and chares, with a washroom with a sink and running water. We also have a filtered water available to fill up water bottles throughout the day.
There are also tables outside and a 10x10 tent set up for kids to have space to lounge in the shade as well as have some classes and activities there.
Your investment in a week full of magic is $525+ tax.
It includes all the keepsakes from the week, like the personalized owls, wands, horoscope map, and t-shirts. As well as all the themed Harry Potter snacks and treats, like freezes to cool off after a Quidditch Match, fudge as Polyjuice Potion (shhhhh), chocolate after defeating Dementors practice, butterbeer (rootbeer topped with icecream on dry ice).
To register, please, contact Tatiana Plechenko @ [email protected]. I will confirm availability and send you a registration form.
Please, note, this camp sells out every year in almost 10 years of us running the camp. If you are interested, do not hesitate with registration while we still have spots available. We never advertise and only accept 24 campers every summer. This camp is currently 1/2 full.
No special equipment is required to attend the camp.
We recommend loose, comfortable clothing and shoes kids can run in. For the equestrian part of the camp, closed toe shoes are required and helmets are provided.
We recommend sun hats and sunscreen, if using.
Personal water bottles is a must. And bug spray is provided on demand.
About me. I am a homeschool mom of 2 kids. And I have been offering workshops and activities for kids in the community for over 15 years. I believe that kids need to be given an opportunity to grown into a whole person through providing them with mentally stimulating environment, where they can thrive emotionally and physically.
I started running Harry Potter Camp for my enthusiastic witch and wizard when they were little. They are turning 14 and 16 this summer and are the counselors who help me run the camp. We have a lot of fun bringing different characters to life, dressing up, and creating magical memories for the campers.
