Did you know Prince George and Fancy Pants are both Hackney pony crosses?

Hackney ponies were established in the 1880s and were bred to pull carriages. This breed is known for their exaggerated knee and hock action giving them a high-stepping trot.

Today, Hackneys also make great riding ponies! They can be seen completing in anything from jumping to dressage to pleasure.

To prevent losing engagement and impulsion in the canter after your transition, imagine asking for the transition again on the second and third stride.

Avoid pushing into canter and think about lifting your horse into canter whilst maintaining a good balance that allows and encourages them to keep the weight on their outside hind leg.

A common mistake is for people to drop their weight forwards and to the inside, particularly if swinging their outside leg back for the transition, this kill the quality and can throw the horses balance out causing them to pick up the wrong lead.

Royale Equestrian Centre - Your premier equestrian centre that bring people together over a common passion for horses. With programs for all levels of rider we strive to build great connections and support for our team and community. Providing positive experiences that last a lifetime...

We believe that horses bring out the best in people. Wether you are stressed from the daily grind of life, or suffer from anxiety, depression, ptsd, we offer a place where you can safely unplug and escape. The physical and metal benefits of being on our farm working with and around the horses can be life changing.

We are here to support and encourage you through the best and worst times. We believe in community and the benefits of giving back and helping others. Horses are incredible animals that offer us so much more than just a sport. They bring us love, connection, empathy. Horses teach us how to better deal with conflict and stress, how to relax and focus in the moment, responsibility, building better relationships, understanding, and communication. The benefits to learning how to work with horses and ride are invaluable.

We take great pride in being able to offer all of this right in the city. Being accessible to all.
