At Bayshore Feeds we sell products from the Master Feeds line as well as clean and mix our own feed and grains right in our backyard. We sell a variety of feed that covers a large spectrum of animals, including: horses, cattle, sheep, goats, swine, poultry, and recreational game bird breeds. Along with feed, we carry an abundance of brands of pet food, treats and toys for all different types of pe
ts, including: dogs, cats, ferrets, gerbils, hamsters, cockatiels, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, and parrots. Another bonus to shopping at Bayshore Country Feeds is our bird seed section. We have many different shapes, sizes and types of feeders along with most bird seed that you could name all located in the back section of the store. We also sell different fencing supplies for electrical fence, and miscellaneous objects such as brooms and shovels. Finally our horse tack section is becoming bigger and has more variety in the products used in the equine barns around Grey and Bruce.

Winter is in full swing, and it's time for horse owners to ensure they feed correctly for this time of year.
Feeding high-quality forage is essential in helping your horse keep warm. All feed creates heat, but quality fiber digestion creates the most heat, which keeps your horse warm in the colder months.
A horse should be fed 2% of its body weight in forage per day. But that does not account for hay waste or extremely cold weather conditions.
"Cold temperatures also change the daily feeding requirement. The lower critical temperature for horses with a heavy winter coat during dry, calm weather is 30 F. For each 10-degree change below 30 degrees, horses require an additional intake of approximately 2 pounds of feed per day (assuming the feed has an energy density of 1 mega calorie per pound, which is typical for most hay).
A 10- to 15-mph wind will require horses to consume an additional 4 to 8 pounds of hay to meet their increased energy requirements. When a horse without shelter becomes wet and encounters wind, it must consume an additional 10 to 14 pounds of hay." (NDSU Agriculture Communication - Jan. 29, 2013)
