Houdini is getting in the holiday spirit. His one Christmas wish is to find a family of his very own. He has been patiently waiting for a year to be adopted. He has seen so many dogs come and go and he has been overlooked. He is the friendliest and sweetest guy you will meet. He loves everyone! He is super goofy, silly and is always smiling. Please help us make his wish come true and share this post! His family is out there somewhere!

Peaches / F / 5Y / 5lbs / Chihuahua / Fostered in Owen Sound

Peaches came from a backyard breeder where she lived in filth and did not get the love and attention she craved. Since coming into our care, she has flourished and is such an affectionate and sweet little girl. She loves to cuddle and wants to sleep right beside her person. If you move over an inch, she will move over an inch with you. She loves to sit on the couch and watch TV together. She also enjoys playing with her foster siblings. Everyone who meets her immediately falls in love with her. Whoever adopts this little girl is going to be extremely lucky.

Peaches is crate trained. House training is still a work in progress and she does have accidents inside. This will be something that her adopters will need to continue to work on with her, especially with the colder weather coming up. She doesn't have much experience walking on leash and prefers hanging out in the backyard. She is medium energy and will get the zoomies and run around the house. She hasn't shown any guarding behaviours or separation anxiety.

Peaches can be shy when meeting new people but will warm up to them quickly. She gets along well with other dogs and cats. She would be fine with children 10+. She is looking for a family who will give her lots of cuddles and will let her sleep in bed with them. She would love someone who is either retired or works from home. She would do best in a quiet area with a fenced-in backyard. She will need a dental in the next 12 months.

If you are interested in adopting Peaches, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Update: adopted!

Toast / M / 3Y / 7lbs / Chihuahua mix / Fostered in Toronto

Toast is described as affectionate, loving and playful. Once he feels comfortable with someone, he'll let his silly side out and will keep you laughing all day! He adores his person and wants to be with them always. He enjoys cuddling up on the couch, giving kisses and playing with his toys. In typical Chihuahua fashion, he isn't loving the cold weather (but who can blame him) and needs a bit more encouragement to potty outside. His foster mom says "Toast is so sweet! His tail is always wiggling which instantly puts you in a good mood! He is playful and silly and just wants to squeeze between you and your partner on the couch or in any nook he can find. He loves to show his affection by giving you kisses all over your face! "

Toast is working on his house training but has made so much progress already! With a little time and patience, he has learned that his business is to be done outside. He is trusted free roaming when left alone and has been left alone for up to 6 hours with no issues. He walks well on leash and is continuing to gain more confidence everyday! He is medium energy and is currently getting 30 minutes of walking a day plus playtime. He did show mild separation anxiety when he first arrived at his foster, but now that he is settled in, he has no issues!

Toast is shy when meeting new people and prefers slow introductions. Once he knows he can trust you though, you have a best friend for life! He is good with other dogs, cats and kids 12+. He is looking for a family who'll continue helping him with his house training and gaining confidence outside. His foster mom wants people to know that "Toast is adorable and playful! The sweetest dog ever. He is actually so perfect. He can do commands sit, paw, and high-five. He’s incredibly smart and would love someone to keep teaching him tricks!"

If you would like to apply to adopt Toast, please complete an adoption application on our website.

A very important message!

Many will get puppies for their kids as gifts this year. Please remember these “gifts” have feelings to and need personal space just as we do, but most of all children need to know how to respect these gifts to ensure the safety of all. It’s not the dogs fault if they bite if they’re not respected.

I wouldn’t want a child doing some of these things to me and neither does your dog. ❤️

Teddy is looking for a foster to adopt home! Must be located within Grey Bruce (as this is where his upcoming vet appointments are).

He will have his vetting completed (neuter and dental) January 17th and then his adoption will be finalized.

Teddy / M / 11Y / 5.5lbs / Chihuahua

Teddy really enjoys the simple pleasures of life. He’s a big snuggler, and is happy to cuddle with his people or under a blanket. He also enjoys putting his face to the wind and feeling the warm breeze through his hair while he soaks up the sun, and has become his foster’s little shadow.

He’s more of a picky eater rather than a foodie. His foster has learned that he loves freeze dried liver treats, and will respond to his name if he smells one! Teddy’s not a fan of winter, and he doesn’t love the snow and the cold. He’s working on his leash manners, and does pretty well as long as the snow isn’t too deep or it isn’t too cold, and his foster helps him practice both indoors and outdoors. His wobbly legs have kept him from long walks - he much prefers to lounge in his crate. When outdoors, he always keeps a watchful eye and a curious nose on his surroundings.

Having never lived in a home, he’s still learning potty training, though he gets plenty of outdoor time in his foster home - he’s out 4 or 5 times a day - and he has been left alone for 2 hours with access to a p*e pad. When given free reign, he wears a belly band, and his accidents have been kept to a minimum in his foster home.

Teddy often settles in his crate when left alone, as he loves to lounge and snooze in his space, and he isn’t known to guard anything. He’s also not particularly interested in toys, and is cautious when meeting new people but relaxes quickly. He is good with other dogs and cats. He would be fine with respectful children 8+. He’s just a chill guy who loves a nap, a cuddle, and the warmth. His ideal home would be a quiet environment and a family who helps him warm up to attention and can continue to show him the world is a safe space for him to thrive. He’s a great take anywhere dog and does well wrapped up in a sling when he can look around.

If you are interested in adopting Teddy, please complete an adoption application on our website.
