*Donation Items Request* 🙏🏻

It has been a busy start to 2025. In the last three months, we have taken in several dogs with a variety of different medical needs. We've had multiple spay and neuters, dentals, emergency visits and cystotomies (removal of bladder stones). Our vet bills since January 2025 have totaled $25,244.49 and we still have Andy's cystotomy and dental coming up, as well as Lucky and Jewel's dentals and Hugo's neuter in April. It means so much to us to help these vulnerable animals and we want to continue to help more, but we can't afford it on our own.

So, to raise money for our rising vet bills, we are putting together a raffle with a few different items that will allow for multiple winners! If you have something you’d like to contribute – a gift card or something else of value, please send us a direct message or email us at [email protected] with the details.

As always, our rescue’s success is a community initiative and we cannot do what we do without the help of our supporters.

Thank you in advance and stay tuned for what we hope is a very exciting raffle announcement coming soon! 🎟️

How is this sweet face not adopted yet?!

Banjo / M / 11Y / 22lbs / Havanese / Fostered in Owen Sound

Banjo is a relaxed, laid back, well behaved little guy. He's a true couch potato and loves to lounge around. He is a picky eater but does enjoy his liver treats. His least favourite thing is taking meds....his foster mom always needs to hide it in food and sometimes he'll even eat the food but spit out the pill. He is getting apoquel daily for his itchy skin, and this may be something he needs to stay on long term (approximately $160/month). He had bladder stones when he arrived in our care but has had surgery to remove them. He will need to remain on a urinary tract support diet to help prevent reoccurrence. He also has chronic dry eye and is on drops daily that he may need to stay on long term (approximately $120/month). He will need a dental in the next 6-8 months.

Banjo is working on his house training but does well as long as he gets outside every 3-4 hours (he sleeps through the night and snores). He is crate trained and walks well on leash. He isn't a huge fan of walks and is currently receiving a few short walks down the street daily. He is low energy but gets bursts of excitement and jumps around! He's show no signs of separation anxiety or guarding behaviours. He is fairly independent but he does love to follow his person around.

Banjo is good when meeting new people. He is great with kids, other dogs and cats. He would do well in a house or apartment. His ideal family is home often to ensure he gets frequent trips outside. He is a very adaptable guy.

If you are interested in adopting Banjo, please complete an adoption application on our website. His adoption fee is $500.

Franny / F / 6Y / 67lbs / Shepherd mix / Fostered in Wiarton

If you are looking for the total package, look no further because Franny has it all! She is affectionate and loves to cuddle. She's playful, fun and adventurous! She absolutely loves playing with tennis balls and squeaky toys. She will pick the ball up, drop it at your feet and nudge it to you with her snout, asking you to throw the ball for her. She enjoys watching out the window with her foster dog sibling to ensure all is well in the neighbourhood and will bark when someone walks by. She also likes going in the water. Her fosters say "she loves everyone - she's the best foster dog I have ever seen"

Franny is house trained and will let you know when she needs to go out. She doesn't like her crate but is trusted free roaming in a dog proof room when left alone. She walks well on leash but does occasionally pull, especially when she sees a small animal. She has shown no signs of separation anxiety or guarding behaviours. She is medium energy - she loves walks but also chills in the house. She is currently getting at least 15 mins of play time with her ball and at least 30 minutes walk a day. We don't know what breed she is mixed with but we think either a lab or a Rottweiler.

Franny loves meeting new people and will happily go up to say hi to everyone she sees. She is good with other dogs and loves playing with her foster dog brother. No cats. She would be fine with respectful children. She would love a family who will take her on adventures with them, give her plenty of love and cuddles. She would love a dog sibling to play with but would also be fine as any only pet.

If you are interested in adopting Franny, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Jax / M / 8Y / 7lbs / Yorkie / Fostered in Owen Sound

Jax is described as cuddly, affectionate, needy and playful. He loves being with his people and will be your little shadow. He also loves treats (beef liver treats are his favourite) and his toys. His foster mom says "I love how cuddly he is. He is a smart little guy - knows sit, paw and lay down." He is a true lap dog.

Jax is house trained and will let you know when he needs to go out. He is currently getting 4-5 potty breaks a day. He is doing well with crate training and will settle after a few minutes. He walks well on leash but he doesn't like new people approaching him on walks and will bark, but he is easily corrected. He is currently getting two to three 15 to 30 minute walks a day. He is medium energy. He will bark out the window when people or dogs walk by. He does not like being in the car and will whine. He does have some separation anxiety and will cry when left alone but he does eventually settle. If he knows you are in the house and he can't see you, he will whine as he just wants to be with his person.

Jax is cautious when meeting new people but warm up after a few minutes. He is good with other dogs but does not like to share his person's attention with them. He is currently living in a foster home with a cat, but he will occasionally pounce on and chase the cat. He would be fine with children 14+. His ideal home is someone who is home often. He would prefer to be the only pet in the home. He would do better in a house vs an apartment as he does cry when left alone and will alert bark at some noises.

If you are interested in adopting Jax, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Sprout is feeling so much better!! The antibiotics are doing their job and her facial swelling is almost gone. She's eating and drinking on her own (she ate all of her dinner!) and is up and moving around her foster's home!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes for Sprout! We are hopeful that she will be feeling 10/10 soon and will be finally ready to find her forever home! Thank you to the amazing staff at the vet clinic who always go above and beyond, and to everyone who has helped care for this little girl and helped get her through this.

If you would like to donate towards her vet bill from her emergency vet visit over the weekend, etransfers can be sent to [email protected] or via PayPal.

Update: Adopted!

Sammy / M / 1.5Y / 76lbs / Golden doodle / Fostered in Owen Sound

Sammy is described as loving, affectionate and gentle. He loves to sit beside his person and get pets, playing with other dogs and going for walks. He came to us from Animal welfare. He was kept tied up to a tractor tire and used as a guard dog. He is the friendliest guy though! Everyone who meets him immediately falls in love with him.

Sammy is crate trained and house trained. Walks well on leash. He is medium energy. He has been left alone for up to 8 hours and has been fine. He has no separation anxiety or guarding behaviours. He is working on learning sit and shake a paw. He is very smart and eager to please, which makes training easier.

Sammy is shy when meeting new people but quickly warms up once he knows he can trust you. He is a little weary of men and needs slower introductions. He is good with other dogs and kids. He has not been cat-tested. He would do well with a family who would take him on adventures and include him in their daily activities. He would be fine in a house or an apartment. He would love to have a doggy sibling but would also be okay as an only dog, especially if he had play dates with friends.

If you are interested in adopting Sammy, please complete an adoption application on our website.

In the last week we've had a few more intakes.

We were contacted by PAWS (animal welfare) to see if we'd have space for Franny (shepherd mix) and Sammy (golden doodle). We typically have a hard time placing bigger dogs in foster homes but there was something extra special about these 2 and we knew we had to help them! They had spent their whole lives tied up to a tractor tire and used as guards dogs. They were taken away from their owner and have been in boarding since November. These two are absolute sweethearts and are loving being house dogs! They are very affectionate, playful and smart!

Jax joined us as an owner surrender due to him not getting along with the children in the home. His family made the difficult decision that it was in his best interest to find a family where he will always be the centre of attention. This little Yorkie is tiny but has a big personality!

Andy (Yorkie) came from a shelter in Quebec where his time was up. He is hilarious, playful and cuddly. He will let you know when he wants something! We can't wait to see what he looks like after his groom on Friday.

Lucky (miniature poodle) came to us when his owner was admitted to long term care. He is a sweet older gentleman who is still a bit nervous but is coming out of his shell. He is laid back, smart and gentle.

They are settling in, decompressing and they are completing their vetting. Once ready, we will share their adoption bios. Stay tuned!

🌱Sprout has been having a pretty rough time recently and ended up back in the emergency clinic with facial swelling. The suspicion is that she has a salivary gland infection and has been receiving antibiotics for this. She's slowly improving but continues to need a lot of TLC and support to get her to eat and drink. She's tiny but tough❤️

Update: Adopted!

Onion / M / 9Y / 5lbs / Chihuahua / Fostered in Midhurst

When Onion came into our care, he was very scared and would try to bite when we touched him. But he has come so far since arriving into our rescue and is so brave now. He is extremely affectionate and always wants to be with you. As soon as you sit down, he wants to be up in your lap. He also loves a cozy bed and blanket to snuggle up in. He enjoys meal time and snacks! He has the cutest bark and sounds exactly like a seal! Whenever you talk to him, his little tail starts wagging, it's so sweet.

Onion is continuing to work on his house training and is doing well but still has accidents inside (he does not like this cold weather). He is crate trained and sleeps through tonight. He hasn't had much experience walking on leash yet. He is low/medium energy. He has been left alone for up to 6 hours and has been fine in his crate. He does occasionally guard his food from other dogs so should be fed separately, right now he is being fed in his crate.

Onion is scared when meeting new people and needs slow introductions. Once he knows you though, he will love you with his whole heart. He is good with other dogs but does not like to share his bed or his person's lap so would do better with another dog who was more independent. He is good with cats. Since he is still quite afraid and does not like to be startled, he would do best with children 14+. Onion is looking for a family who will be very patient with him as he settles in and will help him continue to be brave. He would love someone who is home often with him and someone who wants to cuddle lots. We would prefer a family who has experience with nervous /shy dogs. He had a dental done while in our care and had to have all of his teeth removed. He eats his soaked kibble just fine though.

If you are interested in adopting Onion, please complete an adoption application on our website.
