Billy is doing well after his dental today! He had his few remaining teeth removed as well as his oronasal fistula repaired. He is looking forward to snuggles with his foster while he recovers ❤️❤️

Tomorrow, Ducky will be having her dental....wish her a smooth surgery and sp*edy recovery!

We will be welcoming a 15 year old Yorkie mix into our care in the next week who will need a dental and lump biopsy.

We love helping the senior dogs! If you'd like to donate towards their care, any amount is greatly appreciated! Etransfers can be sent to [email protected] or via PayPal.

We appreciate your support!

Billy / M / 9Y / 7lbs / Chihuahua / Fostered in Grand Valley

This special little gentleman is looking for a quiet retirement home to spend his days relaxing in a lap. His foster mom says "he is so smart and learns so easily". He loves to cuddle, nap, burrow under blankets and lay outside in the sun. He enjoys a slow stroll but also loves to be carried around. He is very quiet but has only recently found his voice. He doesn't bark for long and has the cutest howl. He has only barked when he is excited seeing his dog friends.

Billy is house trained and will use p*e pads overnight. He is trusted free roaming when left alone. He has not shown any separation anxiety or guarding behaviours. He walks well on leash and is low energy. He will get short bursts of playful zoomies. He does have some health issues: he has luxating patellas but they don't cause him and trouble. He has a grade 3 heart murmur but is currently having no symptoms. He is having a dental with extractions and to repair his nasal fistula on August 29th. He has no vision in his left eye but gets around just fine!

Billy is friendly when meeting new people and loves to go say hello. He gets along well with respectful children, other dogs and cats. He would love a quiet home with someone to spend lots of time snuggling him. He would enjoy a patio to lounge on and enjoy the sunshine. He is a very easy and lovable dog.

If you are interested in adopting Billy, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Houdini / M / 2Y / 48lbs / Shiba Inu mix / Fostered in Paisley

Houdini loves to be close to his people and his doggy foster brother. When excited he can be vocal and a chatterbox. His fosters say "He is a fantastic dog and he deserves so much love! Any adopter would fall in love in the first week". He loves playing with his toys and will take all of his toys out of the toy basket to play with. He is always down for a snuggle session with his fosters.

Houdini is house trained. He is working on crate training and will cry when first crated but he will settle in about 5-10 minutes. He's also working on his leash manners as he does pull on leash, especially when he sees another dog as he gets very excited, but has been improving with his fosters. He is medium to high energy and is currently getting a long walk in the morning and in the evening with backyard time in between. True to his name, he is a bit of an escape artist and can climb over chain link fences, so following lost dog prevention is very important with him.

Houdini is excited to meet new people and will try to get all of their attention. He is working on staying calm and not jumping up. He is good with other dogs, cats and kids 12+ (he might knock over small children). His ideal home is with a family who will continue his training and to work on his manners. He would love an active family who will take him on plenty of walks and adventures and play with him. He would do best in a house as he can be vocal. His adoption fee is $600

If you would like to apply to adopt Houdini, please submit an adoption application on our website.

Ziggy needs your help! He was returned after being adopted for only 4 days😭 He is currently in boarding as our foster homes are full. Although he is having a blast there, he would really like a home. If you are interested in fostering or adopting this very happy boy, please complete an application on our website!!

Ziggy / M / 3Y / 55lbs / Border Collie mix / currently being boarded in Woodstock

Ziggy waited a very long time for his chance to be rescued! He was with one of our rescue partners since March 2021 and he finally got his chance to join our rescue. He's doing so well!! He loves to be outside rolling in the grass, sniffing around the yard and getting snuggles and belly rubs! He is described as affectionate, gentle and loving. He can be nervous in new situations and is working on building confidence. He is such a good boy and has so much potential to be an amazing family dog.

Ziggy is house trained and is doing well with crate training. He will bark and whine for a few minutes but then settles. He walks very well on leash. He is a little nervous when people or cars go by, but he's already getting so much better! He is currently getting 4-5 potty breaks a day and has been left alone for 8 hours with no issues. He is currently getting 1 to 2 hours of exercise a day. He hasn't shown any signs of separation anxiety. He is medium energy and enjoys walks but can also chill in the house. He bonds very quickly with women and will use them as a security blanket. He needs to improve his confidence and independence and will need a family who will continue this work with him. His family will need to continue to set boundaries for him to continue his success. Long lead walks and lots of sniffing are a great way to encourage positive behaviour and confidence in Ziggy!

Ziggy is shy when meeting new people, but after a few minutes will warm up and happily accept pets. He is good with adults and kids. He loves the company of other dogs. He has not been cat tested. He is looking for a family who will give him lots of attention and include him in their daily activities. He is looking for someone who will help him to continue to grow his confidence and feel safe. His family will need to be patient with him while he settles in.

Rusty / M / 1Y / 39lbs / Hound mix / Fostered in Owen Sound

Rusty was found dumped on the side of the road with his mom and siblings. He is described as cuddle, calm and affectionate. He does occasionally get playful bursts. He loves being outside in the yard, cuddling on the couch with his people, belly rubs and playing with his fosters dog siblings. He enjoys treats but is picky about which flavor (he prefers chicken or beef). His fosters say their favourite thing about him is his sweet disposition and his love of cuddles.

Rusty is house trained, with frequent trips outside. He is getting more comfortable on walks. When he first arrived in our care, he was very nervous of noises but he has gained so much confidence and is a good on walks. He is still a little jumpy with loud noises. He is trusted free roaming when left alone for short periods of time but is working on crate training for longer times alone. He is learning basic commands and not chewing on things he shouldn't. He has not shown any signs of separation anxiety or guarding behaviours. He is medium energy and is currently getting a few 15-20 minute walks a day plus backyard playtime.

Rusty is shy when meeting new people but if you take it slow, he will warm up to you after a few minutes. He is good with other dogs and loves children. He would be ok with dog savvy cats with proper introductions. His ideal home is in a quiet neighbourhood with a patient family who will continue to help him gain confidence and feel safe. He's looking for a family with time to continue his training and give him lots of attention. He would love a confident doggy sibling to help show him the ropes.

If you are interested in adopting Rusty, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Mojo / M / 1Y / 12lbs / Poodle mix / Fostered in Port Elgin

Mojo is a happy, playful, energetic and smart little guy! He loves his squeaky toys and ball, going on walks and giving kisses. He loves to be with his people but will play with his toys independently. He is an outgoing dog who loves making new friends, both human and canine. His foster mom says "he is a delightful wee fellow"

Mojo is house trained, with frequent trips outside. He is currently getting 8 trips outside a day to lounge, play and potty. He doesn't love his crate but is getting better. He will cry for a few minutes when left alone but will eventually settle. He walks well on leash and loves sniffing from scent to scent. He gets very excited when he sees other dogs and will stand on his hind legs. He is medium/high energy and is currently getting 2 25 minute walks a day plus backyard playtime. He has not shown any guarding behaviours.

Mojo is friendly when meeting new people and loves everyone! He's good with other dogs and would love a doggy sibling to play with. He's also good with respectful children. Lucy / F / 2Y / 45lbs / Chow mix / Fostered in Wiarton

Lucy is affectionate, energetic, smart and happy! She loves being with her people, going on walks, toys and chews. Her fosters say their favourite things about her are "her little tail wag when she is getting pats and she is always happy to see us. She has a good energy level - always happy to go for a walk /adventure but also happy to chill". She can be fearful around things outdoors - scared by some dogs, loud noises, large items (eg mailbox) but she has overcome it with encouragement and has already made so much progress. She is independent and curious to explore - both indoors and outdoors. She is a quick learner - around putting the harness on (has to step in with both feet) and sitting. She is very quiet and rarely barks. She is good in cars and is good when having baths - no stress getting wet or getting washed.

Lucy is house trained and is working on crate training. She walks well on leash and doesn't pull much. He is reactive to other dogs and will pull and bark. She is showing progress though with training. She is trusted in a dog proof room when left alone and has been left for up to 5 hours and had no issues. She hasn't shown any signs of separation anxiety. She does guard her food from other dogs (not from people) so should be fed in a separate area. She will also occasionally guard her space (kennel) but is fine once out. She is high energy and is currently getting 1hr walk a day plus playtime.

Lucy is friendly when meeting new people and loves getting head scratches. She is selective with dogs and has gotten along with some but has enjoyed the company of others. She doesn't love sharing her space with other dogs. She has met a few cats with no issues. She would be fine with kids 14+. She is looking for an active family: she would make a great hiking companion. She needs a confident handler who will continue to work on her training and set boundaries for her.

If you are interested in adopting Lucy, please complete an adoption application on our website. Her adoption fee is $200.

Rocket / M / 11 months / 63lbs / Hound Great Dane mix / Fostered in Milton

Rocket is living his best life and always has a smile on his face. His favourite things to do are play fetch and catch bubbles, and he’ll be happy to play with any dog that’s willing. But all that play tires him out, so, once it’s all over he’ll be on a lap to sleep through any good movie. His fosters describe him as loving, loyal, curious, cuddly, playful, and a bit of a goofball. If this guy sees a lap, he must be in it! He is a very intuitive guy and when the little humans in the home get hurt, he will check on them and is very worried until they tell him it's ok.

A little bit of a brainiac, Rocket learns quickly. His foster says he thrives with his training and aims to please. He’s mostly good on leash but occasionally gets distracted when he wants to go discover or explore something - or wants to go make new doggy friends. He’s crate trained and potty trained, and he hangs out in a dog-proofed space while his foster works on another floor of the home during the day. He sleeps in a crate and goes into it when his foster family goes away. He will whine for a few minutes but quickly settles.

Rocket is medium energy and gets 2 walks a day plus some outdoor playtime in the backyard. He loves to chill on the couch though too! He loves to stop and smell the roses at the end of his walks. Because of his outgoing nature, he loves other dogs and is amazing with kids. He just wants to meet everyone! He is also good with cats.

Rocket truly loves his life as a dog - the only thing he doesn’t love is thunder! His ideal home would be a family environment with people who would love to cuddle him, and an outdoor yard to enjoy. His foster says he is truly a heartthrob and would be “anyone’s Prince Charming!”

If you are interested in adopting Rocket, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Preston / M / 2Y / 10lbs / Chihuahua mix / Fostered in Hamilton

Preston’s fosters describe him as “such a sweet and gentle little guy.” He loves his people, he’s cuddly and affectionate, but can also be chill and relaxed. He loves being close to his humans and snuggling, getting pets and belly rubs, going on walks, hanging in the yard and sleeping. And his foster says he hilariously “has moments where he gets excited and hops around like a kangaroo.”

For a chihuahua, Preston’s fosters say he’s pretty quiet and doesn’t bark that much. He is doing well with his house training (but be prepared for some accidents at first). He does well in his crate and will go in there while his foster mom works during the day. He’s known to cry a bit when he's left alone in it but does settle.

Like a true protector, Preston can get a little guarded when he sees squirrels or dogs and people passing on walks, but he’s easily redirected when he hears his name called. Because he’s low to medium energy, Preston enjoys three walks a day that range from 15 to 45 minutes in length.

Preston is good when meeting new people but does take longer to warm up to men. He is a bit of a ladies man though and will ask for lots of pets and belly rubs from women. He would be fine with dog-savvy kids and he is good with other dogs. He has not been tested with cats. He would be a great companion dog for anyone who wants a little shadow following them around wanting to be beside them and cuddling on their lap. He would love a family who is home often to give him lots of attention.

If you are interested in adopting Preston, please complete an adoption application on our website.
