Ruby is settling in well to her foster home and is being so brave! She's had all of her potty outside, is learning to play and has lots of tail wags! She is the most snuggly girl.

She's not available for adoption yet but watch for her adoption bio once she's ready! All of her information will be shared at that time 🙂

Something happened today that really bothered me. I watched a car drive down a quiet street toward a squirrel in the road. The squirrel didn't dart out suddenly—there was time to slow down, no one behind them, no danger in being cautious. But they didn't even try to brake. Thankfully, the squirrel turned back at the last second.

When I raised my arms in frustration, the person in the backseat flipped me off.

It got me thinking: what kind of person chooses callousness when compassion costs them nothing? What does it say about us when we can't be bothered to slow down for a small creature just trying to cross the street?

It doesn't take much to be a good person. Small acts of kindness, a moment of consideration, choosing compassion when it's just as easy as indifference. Shouldn't we all want to be the kind of person the world misses when we're gone, not the kind it's better without?

I know I haven't changed the world in any grand way, but I try. I try to help as many animals as I can. I try to be kind to people. I try to leave things a little better than I found them.

And honestly? I wish more people felt that way. The world needs more people who slow down—literally and figuratively—to make room for the small, vulnerable things that share our space. It doesn't take much to choose kindness, but it makes all the difference.

Ellie / F / 1Y / Collie mix / 45lbs / Fostered in Owen Sound

Ellie is an absolute sweetheart who doesn't have a mean bone in her body! This cuddly, outgoing girl is the perfect mix of energetic playfulness and calm independence. Whether she's bugging her dog foster sister in the most adorable way, contentedly chewing on a chew bone, or snuggling up beside you, Ellie's loving personality shines through in everything she does. We don't know her exact breed but our best guess is husky/collie/shepherd mix.

This smart, affectionate pup has a heart full of love for everyone she meets—dogs, cats, kids, and people alike. She's never met a person she doesn't adore (though her enthusiasm sometimes results in happy jumps!). Ellie is particularly fond of giving face kisses to her dog friends, which some find charming and others find... well, a bit much! She's fearless, confident, and ready to take on the world with her tail wagging.

Ellie is a very smart girl who would thrive in an active home committed to continuing her training journey. She's already made significant progress with leash manners (especially with a front-attached harness and gentle corrections) and knows how to sit. She's working on recall and would benefit from an owner who enjoys training and sees her stubborn streak as part of her charm! With medium to high energy, Ellie loves her daily walks (2 walks of 15-45 minutes). A dog sibling would be a bonus—she absolutely loves having a playmate—but she'd do just fine as an only dog too.

Ellie is potty trained and sleeps beautifully through the night when left out of her crate. She's been successfully left alone for up to 6 hours and would do best in a dog-proof room rather than crated, as she really doesn't enjoy being confined. She has no separation anxiety and doesn't guard resources—she's just an easygoing girl who prefers her freedom!

If you are interested in adopting Ellie, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Shrimp update!

Shrimp is really coming out of her shell with the help of her awesome fosters! She is exploring more, but still loves to spend most of her time cuddled up in a lap.

Her skin is looking much better, and she even has some hair regrowth starting! She is also feeling way better and his head will be more energy lately.

Please welcome Max and Mia! 🐾

These mini Australian shepherds recently came to us when their owner faced the heartbreaking decision to surrender them.

Max is a sweet but nervous boy who's taking his time to adjust. He needs to be neutered, and because he's cryptorchid, an ultrasound was needed. During the ultrasound, a possible bladder stone was discovered, so he's heading back to the vet tomorrow for x-rays. He had some pretty big mats so instead of stressing him out with a lot of grooming, we opted to give him a nice haircut.

Mia is missing her familiar home but is being showered with love at her foster's. She's currently being treated for a skin infection with medication and medicated baths. Once her skin has healed, she will be headed to the groomer for a spa day.

Both pups are settling into their foster homes and working through their medical needs. Once they've had time to decompress and complete their vetting, they'll be ready to find their forever homes.

We'll share full bios and adoption information once they're available. If you would like to donate towards their vet care, e-transfers can be sent to [email protected] or via PayPal.
