Our focus with Juri this week is building him up to trailer better and stand well for the farrier!
Here's one of the fun things I'll do to practice for the trailer. He nailed it! He was more concerned over the flag we introduced today than the barrels. But if you had seen him his first few days here you'd know the barrels were a big deal to be around! Never mind squeezing through them so tightly!
Introduced Solara to a saddle pad to break up our other work.
On a windy day of course we had a fail but a very positive one!
It's wonderful how far a little confidence boost goes!
These two are becoming the sweetest mares!
No idea where they were in the pasture, call them and they came running. Caught them both and spent a little time working them before setting them free again.
We ventured out further today and learnt all about fly spray! Watch her first moments ever being sprayed... She's better than a lot for broke horses!
Solara is turning into putty in my hands, her experiences right now will highly influence her future endeavours and how she handles them. I am cautious to not put her over the edge but to continue to expand her comfort zone.
Redford got to go out in the big pasture and discover Pedro; who was equally interested in the new guy.

Solara finally got to be out with Tinker, no fence between them and they showed their joy!
I'm a huge believer that space for movement is good for mental, emotional and physical fitness.
Dark Bay Creations package arrived!!
What's holding you back?

Whats your favorite Horsemanship saying?
-Change One Thing at a Time
-Nose, Neck, Maybe the feet
-Do Less First and see how it can mean more
-Work with your horse where they’re at
-Be Proactive not Reactive
-Get in Harmony with your horse then ask them to get in Harmony with you
-Be Prepared not Lucky
-Practice doesn’t make perfect, deliberate practice makes progress
It was hard to choose one so I shared some of my top favorites!
What are yours?
We spent our last day of 2023 riding Bella the Unicorn!
We also spent it arguing about whose horse Bella is, I am losing her more each time he gets to interact with her. I best be on the lookout for my next horse soon 🤣
Bentleys first day learning to steer, now he thinks hes ready to cowboy up and rope off her!
Bella has been in the back burner for a little bit but it's time to get back into shape while having fun working on our liberty!
360 spins were our focus for this session!

Have you ever seen a horse or in this case a pony scared of something and not because of their natural instincts but because someone somewhere at sometime did something not nice to them or failed to help them?
That's exactly what happened to this girl! Who was sold as a kid broke pony...
Dolly is making great progress in truly accepting the saddle, it's taken a gentle approach because pushing her through it wasn't going to help her figure out that it's not that scary! Instead we put the saddle on and did things like go for a walk or eat grass so she would start associating the saddle with very positive experiences.
For those who want to say she wasn't prepared enough for the saddle! She was, she had a pad and surcingle on the week prior to the video of her being scared, a teddy bear flopping around on her and I even layed over her back with no tension or fear. The fear began the moment the saddle was reintroduced to her.
