Dr. Dunker has just finished his second week with us, and already, he is making such a positive impact! Fun Fact - Dr. Dunker is experienced with Pocket Pets so give us a call if you require care for your rat, guinea pig, hamster.....but no bunnies due to an extreme allergy for one of our team members.

This week is National Pet ID Week!
We just wanted to take a moment to tell you all a lovely story with regards to the importance of getting your pets some form of identification (i.e, Microchip or Tattoo).
Approximately 18 months ago, Michelle, one of our front desk staff members cat slipped his harness outside and went missing. On Monday this week, she received a call from her previous vet where Neo was neutered. They had someone bring him in and were able to track his tattoo to Michelle. Neo wasted no time locating his favorite bed (the fruit bowl) & spent his first night back home partying with his k9 brother and sister like he had never even left.

The Oceanside Animal Hospital team are so excited to announce that we are adding a new full time Veterinarian to our team!

Dr. Nick Dunker is originally from California where he received his undergraduate degree, then moved to England where he received his veterinary degree and then worked at a 24 hour small animal hospital. Dr. Dunker's professional interests include surgery & dentistry.

"I have always loved the Pacific Northwest and have moved here to live closer to nature and take full advantage of the outdoor lifestyle. I especially enjoy hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and golf. When I am not outside I enjoy cooking, watching movies, and doing jigsaw puzzles."

You can look forward to seeing his face around the clinic starting April 15th.

Just a quick reminder that we will be closing early this Thursday, March 28th at 3:30pm. We will then be closed for Good Friday & will resume regular hours on Monday April 1st at 8:30am. Oliver enjoyed some yummy snacks while he had his pedicure this morning. We were all in love with his tiny tail wags! 🥹😍

Jose has been a patient of Oceanside for a very long time and has loved to swim for even longer! Monthly Librela injections have helped him to continue to enjoy these swims without the arthritis pain afterwards. We were so happy to see this recent video of the handsome Jose!

A tabby kitten who fetches! Reminds me of an amazing tabby cat I used to have, Kramer! Is this a tabby thing? Do calico cats fetch?? Hmmm.....

And Cleo - showing us her "retrieving" but taking a little nap break. Being a puppy is hard!

Benji's Fear Free Blood Draw

Benji was in for a visit on Saturday and we decided to collect a blood sample to run prior to his upcoming neuter and eye surgery. The little cutie didn't even notice as technician Kara collected his blood - he was too busy enjoying a giant Kong filled with yumminess! #FearFreeVet #LoveOurJobs

Police Dog aces the eye test!

One of our patients is a police dog in training! On a recent visit, he showed off his intelligence with our K9 Eye Chart. Nice work Jerry!

It's National Dog Week! How would you describe your dog in one word?

Anxious little Pippin

Yesterday we recorded staff dog, Pippin, to show you how anxiety sometimes shows itself. Even though Pippin is a super friendly little dog, he shows signs of substantial anxiety at the vet clinic! This is the reason that Oceanside Animal Hospital is taking steps to reduce fear/anxiety in our patients. We have pet calming music playing and are using both dog and cat pheromones throughout the clinic. In addition. some pets like Pippin are given an anxiety reducing medication prior to their appointment in order to help them be more comfortable here.

Little Corbett's tail never stops wagging...until you bring the camera out! This little sweetie sure knows how to steal our hearts!

Frodo eating from his Digger.

Do you have an overweight cat? Or a cat that sometimes vomits when he eats too quickly? I do. And this is him - the 15 year old Frodo! He is eating from his Digger food dish which is one of the best inventions. Please feel free to comment on how handsome Frodo is! And let us know if you would like a Digger of your own.
