Lightly started with roughly 12 rides. Started on the basic maneuvers- lateral flexion, turn on the forehand, turn on the haunch, side pass, soft stop and back up, rollbacks, walk trot and lope in and out of the arena.
Ridden in a halter and bosal only.
She is Sensitive to touch on ears/poll after pulling back while tied. Has had body work/chiro done and red light therapy. Is improving and after some consistent time, should improve drastically.

Baby spam!
2 foals decided it was a perfect night to make their arrival.
First was this lovely filly, owned by Tara Burdock. She’s by our stallion Sun Of Texas and out of Tara’s mare Smart River Playgirl.
Not long after came this big c**t out of Cheyenita and by Pass Em Up Royal. I was lucky enough to be there for the whole birth! 😊
And the whole time the grey c**t out of Macs Calla B x Pass Em Up Royal was intently watching and wanted so badly to come for a closer look. He hung out next to us the whole time.

It’s coming up on a year that Lorenn Pozobut has been working here at the Ranch. I am so grateful for all her help and am looking forward to another great year of memories!
Lorenn achieved her Equine Science Diploma at Olds College and has had a passion for horses since she was a child, whether riding around the field at home, jumping, showing or riding cutting horses.
Lorenn has been doing a wonderful job working c**ts and managing the ranch with me and I’m really looking forward to the season and its endeavors. What a wonderful human to have adventures with!

Date: March 27
Drop off before 9am and pick up around 5pm, flexible to your work schedule.
For confident beginners and up. Ages 8-18yrs.
$100/participant
Pack a lunch and snacks.
Bring their horse or use one of mine. (Bring a filled hay net if bringing your own horse)
Children will have the opportunity to work with multiple horses throughout the day and be in an immersive horse training environment.
I’ll help them with any particular goals, whether they’re competitive or recreational riders.
We will build on their horsemanship both under saddle and on the ground, in the arena and out on the trail. They can enjoy some mounted games, work in the obstacle course and get plenty of hands on learning about tack, anatomy, safety practices and more. These days are always a blast!
Dress in layers for the ever changing temperatures. Bring thinner finger gloves for riding as well as warmer mitts. Bring boots for riding and boots to stay warm and dry on the ground.

Wild n’ Wooly Horsemanship Clinic for young/green horses
Dates: April 6th and 7th
April 21st
Time: 9:30am-4:30pm
Location: Poplar Ridge Ranch
Beverages and snacks provided. Bring your own lunch
Price: $450
This clinic will be in depth and will cover a lot of content to help you develop your young or green broke horse.
It will be set up over two weekends; the first being Saturday and Sunday back to back. You will leave here with everything you have learned and ‘homework’ to do before the 2nd follow up date. You will have access to a private Facebook group for our Wild n’ Wooly clinic members where you can post your videos for updates, ask questions and I will share videos and help with everyone’s progress. Then on the 21st we meet again in person to build onto what you’ve done, work through any challenges you came across and set you up to leave with more confidence in your capabilities as horsemen. Your horse will have a good start and foundation to rely on and will be set up for whatever plans you have for the season.
What age and type of horses will this be good for?
Yearlings, 2 & 3yr olds, older horses that are green and needing to progress or have some holes in their training to fill, c**ts that will need to be started under saddle, c**ts that are already under saddle, horses that you want to ride, horses that you aren’t ready to ride.. etc

I’m Alberta bound!
I had an amazing time at Jim Greendyk Performance Horses in Scottsdale. I learned a lot and got to ride some amazing horses and progress my own mares Rey and Chiclet.
Everyone was so helpful and willing to pass on any knowledge they could, about business, horse care, training, showing and more. I definitely asked a lot of questions! haha I met quite a few really great people and am in awe at how many major trainers, breeding programs and big influencers in the industry are out there.
I stayed and worked and learned with Jim for a couple weeks as well as attended Jim’s Power Clinic. I love the format that he has built for his course, with plenty of time for theory, questions and of course riding. The use of his videos and thorough description of what is expected out of the rider and horse prior to heading out to the arena to work on that exercise was very helpful. This makes his course suitable for anyone with the desire to learn and grow and it is tailored to suit the riders level and needs. I’m looking forward to more adventures this year!

Well I’d say it’s about time I catch up on some pictures! This is where I’ve been all week!
I came to Jim Greendyk Performance Horses in Scottsdale Arizona to learn and progress. Already this week (despite the crazy downpours and cold weather..yes, i said cold) I have had the opportunity to learn and ride on some great horses and pick up so many tips from both Jim and his sister Emily. I’m looking forward to the next couple weeks!
I’m so grateful for their hospitality and how inviting the whole family is. I’ve met some nice people here as well and it’s amazing how many big influencers in the industry live right here.
We finally had a couple days of nice sun and that feels real good. It’s beautiful here and riding out in the desert is such a change; great landscape for training too. I have also learned that their trees/shrubs are definitely not as friendly as our Canadian ones! 😆

We overnighted the horses at a nice little place in Saratoga Springs that was right in the middle of the city. Apparently it used to be pretty quiet and then everything started to be built around it. The mares let me know we had some neighbours in the next stall.. three little piggies!

This clinic will be tailored to fit the needs of the individual and will help you learn and apply concepts and step by step exercises from the level you and your horse are at, working towards what goals you would like to achieve. This clinic will be suitable to anyone wanting to advance their green broke horse (must have a minimum of 60 days riding), for anyone wanting to build their confidence, improve their Horsemanship ‘tool box’ and for those needing help problem solving or fine tuning their body control work and maneuvers. I have trained many horses professionally for over 14 years that have gone on to work/perform in Western and English disciplines, out on the ranch and on the trails. I’m a Ken Mcnabb Certified Master trainer and have learned from many accredited trainers and am now stepping into showing, with interest in cowhorse, reining and barrels. I have competed in multiple Colt Starting competitions, including 3 day competitions such as Horse 3 and Mane Event. I have been a coach and mentor to many people and take pride in helping people learn, grow and succeed. Whether it’s gaining confidence to trot for your first time or competing in your chosen sport, I find joy in helping and being part of all of these Horsemanship journeys.
