One of the hardest things to watch as a coach…
…is a student giving up on themselves the moment things get tough.
Not because I’m frustrated with them—far from it.
But because I see the potential they don’t see yet.
I see how close they are to a breakthrough.
I see how brave they already are just for showing up.
And I wish I could bottle that belief and hand it to them when their confidence starts to shake.
The truth is, riding isn’t always graceful.
Sometimes your cues don’t land the way you hoped.
Sometimes your horse is confused, or responding in a way that’s different than you imagined.
And in those moments, quitting can feel easier than facing the struggle.
But that’s exactly when the real learning happens.
The riders who grow the most aren’t the ones who get it right the first time.
They’re the ones who take a deep breath, wipe their tears, and try again—even if their hands are shaking.
At Giddy Up, we don’t measure success by ribbons or perfect form.
We measure it in courage. In resilience.
In the quiet moments where a kid chooses to believe in themselves—even just a little—because someone else believed in them first.
So if you or your child is in that “this is hard, I want to give up” stage...
I want you to know: we don’t expect perfect—we just want you to keep showing up. And we’ll meet you there, every time.
