The Ottawa Valley Doggy Paddle supporting the OSPCA is happening this coming Sunday, Aug 11.

To support this cause, Alder Creek Kennel is going to give away a free Lure run to anyone who registers for the event from today until Sunday!

What a great way to let your dog have a great chase and then cool off on the water!

We promised that we will be vending at End of the Leash Annual Block Party, but we are doing one better! We are setting up our Lure system for all to try.

There will be a fenced in area designated for dogs to chase the lure safely plus we will show you how to warm up your dog properly before the chase!

Happy 'Work like a Dog Day', we certainly have been working hard with all these dogs to exercise.
A huge thank you to our volunteers this past month. Emery spent hours and hours sitting and playing with the dogs. While Maddy had her work cut out for her trying to tire out Ronin!

The month of July has come to an end, so we asked employee Steph who she would chose as Pet of the Month.

Steph chose Spock because "He is so willing to do anything we throw at him and is always a happy camper. Spock has such a unique personality that stood out to me. He never passed up on snuggles and is so gentle with us humans. Spock never missed a command and solved all the treat puzzles, even the advanced ones. He is a very smart, friendly, confident and affectionate dogthat I hope to have more time with soon."

Luckily for Steph, Spock is scheduled to visit again very soon :)

We owe a huge thank you to Siegal Sand and Gravel for their third of many loads of dirt to fill our pens! They are always friendly and willing to work on our schedule.

Private Lure Sessions are now available to book!

You can book for 1-2 dogs at a time, we can set up the course in the configuration of your choosing in a fully fenced in area or off leash.

We will start with getting the dog comfortable with the area, set up the course, stretch out and warm up your dog. Let them watch the Lure go around and then let them lose!

We are charging $20 per 30 minute session, but your dog will not be running the entire time as it is a very intense and we do not want to over do it. We also have the right to cancel due to weather conditions being too wet or hot.

Please note this is being offered separately from Daycare and Boarding at this time due to the time and man power it takes to use this system.

Find the 'Private Lure Session' on our booking software under 'Extra Services' and come give it a try!

Happy Sunday everyone!

With all the Christmas in July events going on, it has us thinking about Christmas in December.

We have decided to make a few adjustments for the Christmas period of Dec 24-26.

These changes are to better support our staff who will be working hard to care for your dogs while you are on holiday and to make sure they are compensated well for their hard work and dedication.

The three changes that affect December 24th, 25th and 26th 2024 are as follows:
We will not be accepting drop-off, pick-up or daycare for those 3 days. Boarding stays that start before the 24th and end after the 26th only.
We will be adding a $5 charge for each day, totaling $15 extra on your bill.
Payment for the total stay will be due upon arrival at our facilities.

I hope you all understand why we have made these changes and if you plan on using our services, I highly recommend you book sooner rather than later as bookings have already started to come in.

We trialed with Jax but we still have some details to work out! Also, Jax was a bad test subject. He captured the lure and tore it apart 🫣🤦‍♀️

VIP- Very Important Pet

Who is your very important pet and why?

This is Jax, he is one of my VIP's because he is the dog that was always in the back of my mind when I was trying to figure out how to get into a pet business. Jax is a VIP around Alder Creek Kennel because he frequents daycare and is very good at keeping all the other dogs actively playing.

We have been very busy the last while, thanks to you :)

Just a heads up, we are filling up to capacity every weekend and sometimes even during the week.

I strongly suggest booking stays 2 weeks before you need them to ensure your kennel!

This weekend I had a really great compliment come through my email from one of you. It got me thinking...I always get to read or hear the compliments and reviews but my employees might not even know they exist!

So the "Compliments Wall" was started! Now my employees can read them whenever they want and they will know what a great job they are doing!

Have you noticed your dogs paw prints on our front window? We are slowly adding more when we have time! We are using an ink pad transfer kit so that it is safe for the dogs.

We still need to replace all the logos with our new one, all in good time!
