"If I die before my dog, let him see my body.
He understands death, if he feels my death he can cry for me.
If he doesn't see me again he will think I abandoned him and he will continue waiting for my return.
If I die before my companion, let him say goodbye to me.
"Dogs are an endless friendship, a loyal friend, a part of life and a reason to exist! "🐾❤️
(From Dog's Go Wuff)
This also applies to other pets in the house.
The first time we lost a dog to death we didn't give his dog companion come and see. He looked for his little friend for at least 4 years on all walks we went on.
Something clicked in me, when my dad died, we let the dog sniff the body in the casket (he was not embalmed, when we lost the cat, we showed the dog and cats her body and so on. What a difference! Be kind, let your animals have closure too!
