Red Seal Journeyman Technician servicing Motorcycles, ATV', Sleds. Mutts is the Certified Behaviourist and Trainer and Recognised Medical Assistance Service Dog Trainer in BC, Canada and the US. Training comes natural to me and I pass it on to the dog and owner with everything I do. Motorcycles come from the Red Seal Certified Journeyman Technician in the family who is certified in Harley and Metr

ic Motorcycles. He specializes in engine and transmission rebuilds, customizing and making a motor run to perfection. Experienced with most makes of Scooters.

Got thinking about winter and looked for a picture of my dog going up the chairlift with me. But I couldn't find it. So instead I thought I would put one up of my other puppy, Emilia, learning how to take the chair lift. Dogs are much easier to train.

Our Christmas Break will be from December 22nd to January 7th. That gives us time to make sure the grandkids and the dogs get to have some fun with the family. Hope your holidays will be special and filled with fun.

Saw this picture of my daughters service dog, Princess Leia. She is for crisis and hearing. But this picture is a stark reminder that winter is around the corner and she loves playing in the snow after a hard day at work in the hospital.

Pearl met up with a couple of nice high school boys who were out in the field working on a photography assignment. They were very focused on what they were doing so Pearl became very curious. Needless to say, we all had a great visit and I stressed to them how much my photography class when I was in high school really helped me during my adventures in life. And bless their hearts, never once did they ask how many many many years ago that was. LOL

The CMHA in Penticton asked if I knew of any therapy dogs that would like to come for a weekly visit. I suggested they set up a resident therapy dog to have there daily but they are afraid their resident cat will resist. I feel the more the merrier. But I am posting this just in case there is someone who would like to be a visitor. Ask for Jess if you get in touch with them.

It was a prefect dog day. Sunny, not too hot and beautiful places to fetch the ball. On her journey she got to make a very sad little girl smile and met a boy who skinned a knee and really liked the idea of getting a kiss from Pearl.

It's way too windy today in Pearls opinion, and Pearl is not sure if there is something after her. She sure is heeling well and refuses to go far from my side. Maybe a good day to encourage your dog to heel. They may be very happy being right beside you to protect them from all of those strange noises and things flying.

Today was a reminder that it will get a bit dicey with the weather over the next few months. Just for a thought, remember the older dog feels the change in temperature and the aches and pains of cold muscles. Be considerate, let them warm up, let them rest and make sure they always have water. Old age wont be quite so tough on them if we consider their age. Dogs age differently depending on breed and care as a pup, so take those things into consideration when trying to think about just how old your dog feels.

Today is a special girls Birthday. She was a dog running loose near a garbage dump in Alberta that had been bred a 6 months old, had puppies in the middle of winter and managed to keep one alive. She was caught by a good hearted woman who took in starving dogs and found them homes. I was enamored by Abbey and adopted her. I trained her to be a Service Dog for my daughter who is an ER Doctor and has very poor hearing. Abby's birthday is today is she is 12. She is retired now and is welcome in the hospital anytime to visit and remind everyone just how special she is. You just never know how special your dog really is until you ask it to work for you, and they do their best to make you proud of them. Abbey is the Shepherd cross is the picture, Lucy is passed now and is the black Shepherd cross and then there is Pearl, my little Blue Heeler.

Its getting to be that time again when we look at our dogs and really want to take them everywhere with us. My problem is when I had two dogs, we didn't all fit on the motorcycle. They decided I could walk. That wasn't a option so Cliff took Pearl and I took Lucy.
But if you need to do more training to make that extra travel possible get in touch. Even Service dogs sometimes need a refresher course on good manners and trust.

Pearl would like you to join in a Therapy Dog Workshop. It works well because it teaches the owners how to talk dog and teaches the dog to listen. It's a win - win for everyone. If you are interested in a lesson or a workshop text me at 403-880-0430. I have a lot of Service Dogs in Training join us because it helps the handler deal with group situations.

I have had a few people ask me over the past year about grooming classes. I would be pleased to do it, but I can't remember who asked me about it. If you are interested in learning how to groom your dog, please get in touch and I will work my best at getting something together that will be accessible for you. Its always great to know how to groom your dog no matter what the breed. Hot or cold weather, it helps to know what to look for and how to do things right.
