Stay is a fantastic self-control exercise to teach your dog, and can come in handy in many different situations.
How do you teach a stay?
✔️Have good treats
✔️Have a spot for your dog to stay
✔️Increase distance VERY slowly, giving your dog a treat when you walk back into them
✔️Work in short sessions
✔️Gradually make things harder with distance and distractions

The basics of clicker training:
1. Pair the click with a treat. Click and treat 5-10 times a session over multiple sessions to develop the association between the sound of a click and the treat.
2. Begin training. Once you have the association, click when you get the behaviour you’re looking for and give a treat.
3. HAVE FUN!! It’s fun for people and animals!
What’s your favourite thing you’ve trained?
Want to understand what your pet is trying to tell you?
Step 1 - Look at their:
Posture
Mouth
Eyes
Ears
Tail
Movement
Start watching what they're doing with their bodies when in different situations to help you learn how to read their body language.
A herding dog calm around chickens?
Well, not all the time, but mostly, yes. When the ladies are running, flapping and excited first thing in the morning it’s a bit difficult for this adolescent Aussie.
But, we worked really hard introducing the chickens to Marmalade as chicks and rewarded calm, quiet behaviour. They gradually just became part of the scenery around here.
Now, the chickens often run up to her when she approaches the fence and her favourite place to lie outside is by their pen.
