Im typically pretty humble and not one to brag when good things come my way. However I feel like this is something I'm very proud of myself for achieving. Winning Platinum first place in 2022 & 2024 Peterborough community votes has brought me so much pride.
What is it to be a self employed dog groomer well let me tell you.
Often times people seem surprised when they ask and I say yes "Dog grooming" is a full time career.
It's so much more then just a haircut.
For me running my own successful business solo for over 15years is such a blessing. I have always had a big passion for working with animals especially dogs.
Each dog is different just like people they all have different personalities and needs.
Some dogs come in tail wagging big smiles and can't wait to spend time at the salon. Others can be very nervous, anxious or shy. Some dogs have aliments, hot spots, itchy skin and sore joints. Learning to accommodate each pets needs and building a trusting bond is everything. When a nervous/shy dog leans in for the little thank kiss my heart lights up as yes I've earned that dogs love and trust.
I love knowing clients feel comfortable leaving their adorable companions with me.
So what is a dog groomer they are the one who works long days covered in hair. We get peed on, sneezed at, barked at, scratched and even bit from time to time. We have seen it all from the stinky skunk sprayed dogs, to freshly rolled in something smelly, some bring in extra critters like ticks we have to remove. Everyday is a new surprise it definitely keeps things interesting!
The one who spoils your pet with treats and belly rubs. Falling in love and feeling the heartbreak when it's time to say goodbye Yes dog groomers love your pets too! Some days can be tough patience can get tested but a dog groomer wouldn't have it any other way. For all the highs and lows I truly believe Dog Grooming is exactly where my path was ment to lead me.
