Morning all of our Scales followers.
Just wanted to address the elephant in the room.

Rumors are circulating that we are closing the doors. Nothing is further from the truth!

We are currently working on renovations and securing many new products as well as new suppliers to deal with the over whelming shortages we have experienced and are experiencing. What this means for you our customer? We are still working hard daily to meet your needs and source new and exciting products.

Want to see something in store or thing there are products you would like us to carry let us know and we will explore those options for you!

And brace yourself ...

February 1st mark it on your calendar we are having our Grand Opening, or rather reopening(more details to come) .. it will be the finalized renovations and Carolyn and I are looking forward to sharing our vision of the future here at House of Scales. We do not want to let the cat out of the bag but many new things are coming one of which is house of Scales will be the Official Adoption Center for GNP Reptile Rescue and the head office of the Central Ontario Reptile Expo.

Stay tuned my friends and do not give up .. things are a changing and we want you all along for the ride. Thank you for the previous 7 years it was great and here is to atleast 7 plus more years!

Just a heart felt thanks to all of our great customer base who has supported us through this time as we recuperate and get our bearings so we can push forward. You have all been great and we are so fortunate to be able to be here and be able to see each and every one of you and help you get what you need.

I know the intent was not for this, but a very special thanks for Kael Knowles who came in today and dropped off a sizeable donation to help us out. Our intent was never to ask for or take something for nothing, it is just who we are, but it is very much appreciated and knowing we make a difference being here makes it all worthwhile. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This does include all of you who have shown support, helped out and came in and supported by purchasing your reptile needs from us. Thank all of you for being there for us

Last update for the weekend, many emotions are still in play and we are tired so bear with my spelling and grammar if it is off.

Most important announcement first

We are open tomorrow 11 to 6 !! Monday Dec 23rd .. Only a few more sleeps until the big man comes with Christmas Cheer for all your young ones and a few of us older ones too.

Thanks to Allan and Jacquie Maniate for coming by today and helping us put the shop in order so we can be here for our customers. Could not have hammered it our without you.

We do have stock so come see us. Some may be limited but we are making every effort to get more in as quick as possible. Yes we have horn worms and wax worms.

We are so very fortunate for our great friends who have been there the last couple days with us helping to keep us sane. Jordan Leal, my brother and friend thank you for being there. Noah thanks for coming in once he heard and helped us in the critical first few hours of sub zero weather. And as I said above Allan and Jacquie for being there for us today. You guys are one in a million, we are grateful to be able to call you our friends.

To answer a few questions we have been asked.
1 - Animals. Yes we lost a few but not nearly as many as we thought we would and for that we are thankful, animal care is number one. None were stolen.
2 - What was stolen - Not going into great detail but money is at the root of it all
3 - He as caught on camera and is only a matter of time until he is caught
4 - State of the store - damage was caused and we are back in order for now. And yes we did incur many expenses in the last couple of days due to this but we refuse to let it keep our spirit down. We are still here and anxious to get back to normal.

So thats all folks for now. Lets fill your reptile stockings tomorrow and Tuesday!

We are still weeding through everything folks ...

anyone who were coming in to pickup today sorry nothing can go anywhere until Monday at the earliest to make sure all remaining animals are good. While some we have lost many are looking fine but animal health is priority one

Thanks to Stu Maracle (wish I knew how to tag him) for helping fix the door. We are blessed truly with such good customers.

We are down for a couple of days but not defeated. Monday is only a couple of days away.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all our great fantastic customer base! It has been a while since we have addressed all of you or made an announcement so here it is.

Thanks to all our loyal followers who are taking the time to read this. The last seven years have been quite the ride. From the small shop with a few tanks and a couple of animals for sale to the shop we have grown into is simply fantastic and we could not have done it without the hard work we put in and the fantastic customer base we have accumulated over the years. Yes we know we cannot please everyone, but we do the best we can with what we have.

Now brings us to a big announcement. We really have been a local mom and pop store doing the best we can in our small town, countless hours of planning and organizing by us (Jordan and Gord). So, it is a bittersweet moment in this announcement as it is not something we had ever planned to do but here it is.

As of December 17th, House of Scales will not longer be operated by Jordan and myself (Gord) .. Jordan is going on to do great things with the Hub Sauce Co and those of you who tried it will agree he has great products and I’m sure many more to come, we will carry all of his products he produces and support him in this, Hub Sauce Co Rocks!

My wife Carolyn and I will keep running the shop going forward and assume ownership we are very excited to be able to keep this dream Jordan and I had going and help it the continue to thrive.

Jordan will be in this week Thursday for sure, other days depending on his schedule so drop in and see him and wish him the best! We wish Jordan nothing but the best in his future and could not have asked for a better partner in this endeavor, his constant presence at House of Scales will be missed by us and you our customer I’m sure. Jordan leaves a presence in everything he does for that we thank him for the presence he left here he will always be family to us.

Here is to the future of House of Scales and the next 7 years of us serving the reptile community.
