Would you believe this tiny girl was 15 days overdue? The cow was induced on Monday because she was showing no signs of calving despite a confirmed breeding date. 2 days later and still nothing. This little heifer made a valiant effort to stay inside, but we eventually coaxed her out.

Spectacular day to be out processing calves! Sunshine, blue sky, and plus 14 on Jan 29... starting to make up for the previous 2 months of fog, rain, and mud!

Had a helper today to put a cast on this calf's broken leg. We had to move her three times, but each time she climbed right back up. Can't keep a kitten away from a warm soft place!

This poor little twin calf had its leg stepped on and broken when it was only a few hours old. The cow left it out on a hillside and took the other calf to the barn, where the observant farmer noticed one was missing. Within a couple hours calf was found, I was called, and leg was set and cast. It was a clean break, which will heal well in a calf this age. I expect her to be keeping up with mom and sibling in no time flat!
