I receive great satisfaction and joy mounting birds and have been doing so since the age of 14 over the last 59 years. I always strive to do the very best work that I am capable of and take pride in making all of my clients happy when they leave here with their bird. I retired from being a provincial wildlife biologist in 1997 when I started my commercial bird taxidermy business, Feathers Alive in
Huntsville, Ontario. I completed my first bird mount at age 14 and it was a definite disaster and barely looked like a bird. Undeterred, I keep at it for the next 59 years until today and I still greatly enjoy what I do. I have mounted thousands of birds from the size of a hummingbird to a 26 pound (12 kg) wild turkey and almost everything in between. They have been done standing at rest, with or attacking prey, asleep, fighting, flying in the air and under water and many more postures desired by my many customers. I am a licenced taxidermist under the laws of Environment Canada. I will not accept any bird that was illegally obtained or possessed. Most birds require the owner to possess either a federal or provincial permit or licence and I will not accept birds into my business that are not legally so covered.
