Animal Health Week is upon us and the slogan for this year is so perfect.... It Takes A Team! We are so fortunate to have so many people, with so many different skills who have come together to create the Team at LVS. Truus, Shyan (TA), Jessica (RVT), Amanda (RVT), Melissa (DVM), Kelli (DVM), Betty-Jo (DVM), Amy (VMD) and Kira (DVM) are all so passionate about Farm Animal Medicine and are committed to our producers and their livestock as our producers work towards their goals. I hope that you can feel that care and attention to detail, no matter which member of the team you are working with!

We take pride in supporting our clients in herd health management and milk quality, and we are extremely proud that we get to work with seven of the top ten low somatic cell count herds in Alberta!
Also, congratulations to the Leusink family on an amazing year. They work incredibly hard to produce quality milk and care for their cows! If you havenโ€™t read the article in the Lactanet magazine, check it out! Three generations farming together ๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ‘

This sweet girl followed a jogger home from his run in Picture Butte and now she needs to be reunited with her people. We scanned her for a microchip but there isnโ€™t one. Please call the clinic at 403-732-5322 and we will connect you with the lovely family who is caring for her.

She is very sweet, very gentle and thinks treats are lip licking good.

Happy Administrative Professional Day! Our clinic is so blessed to have Truus and Shyan. These ladies work tirelessly behind the scenes. They are the friendly voices when clients call in and they make sure that each of our vets has clean splashers to wear each day. If something is lost, chances are, they will find it. If there is a question, they have an answer. We couldnโ€™t do it without them and we are grateful each and everyday! ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ’

It would be tough to let International Womenโ€™s Day go by without making mention to celebrate all the amazing women in the agricultural sectors we deal with. We thank the brave and fearless women that came before us who helped to shape the industry to what it is today and hope that we can continue to lead and mentor the future generations of women to come. Did you know that Alberta has one of the highest rates of female farm operators? Cheers to you all!

03/07/2023

Beef calving season is upon us, with producers and vets alike crossing their fingers that none of the cattle will require any assistance. The Western Canadian Cow-Calf Surveillance Network reports that close to 5% of beef cattle will require assistance and that 90% of herds report assisting in at least 1 calving in the previous season. Five percent doesnโ€™t seem like a lot, but making sure that we know what to do in those situations is imperative for calf survival, but can mean life or death for mom too. The Beef Cattle Research Council together with the Manitoba Beef & Forage Initiatives have created a flow chart to help with knowing when to intervene, and when to call the vet. Have a look at this great tool, or download it to keep on hand for future reference.
