No one has said it better than T Swift - "Take me out, and take me home...forever and ever!" Ticks find their hosts by detecting their breath, body odors, body heat, moisture, and vibrations. They wait poised in position for their host; holding their little legs out, waiting to climb on! This hunting technique is called "questing". Attached is a video of a questing Tick that Dr. White took today while hiking in Waterton.
Remember these little guys are ready and waiting for you and your pets! So, make sure your furry friends are on Tick Preventatives and you are performing tick checks on everyone who was outside.
How are you and your pets celebrating the nice weather?

Yesterday, February 27th, was World Spay Day. This day was made to help increase awareness of the need for spay/neuter to save animal lives. Dr. White is here to discuss the importance of spaying/neutering your pets with a special guest, Pixie! Pixie has stolen the hearts of everyone at Peak and we are sure she will steal yours. @pinchercreekhumanesociety #WorldSpayDay
Have you been following the Pincher Creek Humane Society and the amazing work they are doing to help stray cats in this community? They recently took in 40-plus cats/kittens to be examined, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and dewormed!! These kitties all came from a place where a good samaritan was ensuring the resident stray cats were fed and watered, but unfortunately, cats are amazing multipliers! So, the humane society worked hard to get the care these cats needed. The PEAK Team was delighted to be part of this initiative.
Attached is a video of one of Dr. White's favorite tom cats from the group! Just, look at him enjoying the Cat TV. 😻😻😻😻😻😻
Please consider donating to the Pincher Creek Humane Society to aid in their efforts to help pets in need. Donations can be made directly to the Pincher Creek Humane Society, e-transferred to [email protected], or made directly onto their account here at PEAK.

How about some creepy crawlies!?! Ear mites are parasites that live on the surface of the skin, usually in the ear. They are a common infection in cats, and are highly contagious to both dogs and cats. If your pet has ear mites you may notice they have itchy ears, shake their head, have dark, crusty discharge in their ears, or have sores on the pinna. Diagnosis is via visualization on the microscope, like this video of an ear mite infection in one of our patients. Treatment will require a trip to the veterinarian so your pet can receive a thorough ear cleaning and treatment with medication to eliminate the infection!
