Animal Services for:
Ponoka County, Town of Ponoka, Stettler County, Starland County and The Camrose County. We are very passionate about helping dogs and cats anywhere in Alberta where there is no animal services in place, if space allows us. Martine started Old MacDonald Kennels Pet Boarding to raise money to afford her rescue. Please keep Old MacDonald Kennels in mind if you are going on a vac

ation. If you wish to relinquish a pet, you must phone the rescue first for approval and be prepared to pay a surrender fee for us to take responsibility for your pet if we have space. You may have to go on a waiting list. All our shelter animals are vet checked, vaccinated, dewormed, micro chipped. You will also receive a personalized identification tag and a free bag of food. Adults and dogs over 6 months - $425.00
pups under the age of 6 months -and small dogs $575.00
cats and kittens - $175.00

When we have space available we will welcome surrenders. Please call for more information. Pet boarding fees
one dog - $25.00/night, any additional dogs sharing a kennel for $10.00 more. Cats - $15.00/night
any additional cats sharing a kennel for $5.00 more.

Meet Balu, our happy-go-lucky boy. Heโ€™s an adventurous and affectionate puppy, who will do anything for a treat.

Found as a stray, we have no information on his parents.
He sure looks like a German Shepherd and is expected to grow into a medium-sized dog.

Currently, Balu is being pampered in a foster home near us, where heโ€™s receiving house training and a great start in life. If youโ€™re interested in meeting him, please give us a call.

The boy that was sitting beside an electrical box for days.
Not sure why, or how he ended up there.
It took me two days to catch him with the help of hot dogs ๐ŸŒญ thatโ€™s why we named him Schneider.

A very scared boy terrified of everything and anything.
He came in our care in the early spring of 2024 and we are slowly starting to see progress.
He loves his walks and although he can play well with dogs,he can be bossy.
He would be best suited as the only pet and a home without small children.
He is okay around my indoor cats but Iโ€™m not sure what he will do when they start running and he is unsupervised

It takes him longer to warm up to men, we do see progress!
He would be an amazing dog for someone that appreciates collies. Schneider loves to go for walks, and is an amazing swimmer.

Schneider is approximately 1.5 years old.
Schneider needs a home with a fenced yard and is not a suitable dog for a farm or acreage.

We are looking for a home that will give him all the time he needs to adjust.

Do you remember the two very scared Shepherds found near Blufton, a few months ago?
Pepsi is one of them.
This boy turned into a beautiful dog.
He is such a fun loving boy and so eager to learn.
He will do anything for a treat. Pepsi is still very much a puppy and he still has lots to learn.
I love his goofy personality, he is a ton of fun.
He likes to play fetch, go for walks and is so proud when he gets a reward for his good behaviour.
Do you enjoy, going for walks and take your dogs on fun adventures, this boy be so happy to join you!
Pepsi is approximately 1 year old. He is good friends with Cheetos, he doesnโ€™t make dog friends easy. Pepsi would be best suited in a home where he is the only pet.

We have been fortunate to develop a strong relationship with the staff and patients at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury over the years. They regularly visit us for animal interactions, including cat cuddles and dog walks.
Recently, they generously donated a substantial amount of dog food, treats, cat food, litter, toys, and dog and cat beds.
We are deeply grateful for their ongoing support, which is truly remarkable and enables us to continue providing a safe haven for stray animals in our community. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
