Our Story
Massage is an ancient art that engages the deliberate and manual manipulation of the muscle, sinew and joints of the body to improve elasticity, range of motion, lymphatic circulation and drainage as well as cardiac circulation. KEEPING OUR BEASTS HEALTHY: Regular massage therapy is greatly recommended for athletes. Athletes our furry ones are, whether they enjoy agility or a good round of flyball, a simple game of fetch in the back yard, a ride through the trails, or maybe an afternoon spent working on Western Pleasure Riding, each and every one is an athlete and therefore their bodies should be maintained like those of athletes. Massage, regular exercise, and good nutrition are a great place to start in the maintenance of their well muscled bodies. Massage Therapy keeps soft tissue healthy and in great working condition. It can increase strength, speed and agility, while maintaining flexibility and range of motion. Massage can protect Fido and Mr. Ed from the wear and tear of daily activities which can lead to repetitive movement injuries. Regular massage therapy increases the chances of early detection of any abnormalities in soft tissues. Early detection allows Guardians the opportunity to stop a small problem from becoming a larger more debilitating one. Regular sessions encourages the body to remain limber longer, keeping the signs of age at bay. They reduce the chance of injury from regular activities or the occasional wild game of fetch, or a great game of tag in the pasture. Regular massage therapy keeps the bodies of our companion animals safe, healthy and young. REHABILITATION: Massage inspires healing. Manipulation of muscle increases the flow of blood to and movement of lymph from an injured site. This can lessen rehabilitation time of injured soft tissue. This can reduce muscle atrophy and compensation issues by lessening the time a dog may spend on restricted movement, or that our horse friend may have to spend in his stall convalescing. Whether dealing with post traumatic or post surgical issues; strains or sprains; torn tendons, ligaments, or muscles, massage can make a great difference in the healing process while bringing a holistic twist to healing. For an animal who has broken a limb, massage therapy will offer amazing supportive therapy for her other limbs who have been responsible for weight bearing. Once that limb is removed from its cast, it will greatly benefit from some therapeutic massage to rebuild atrophied muscle, reestablish flexibility, and to return to normal, functional range of motion.
My love of animals and my desire to find ways to increase their quality of life is what led me to massage therapy. It blends traditional Eastern Medicine with modern Western Medicine creating a whole new world of solutions when helping a great variety of clients with an even greater number of issues, ranging from post-op healing, to broken limbs, torn ligaments to post injury atrophied muscle, and on and on goes the list. PALLIATIVE CARE: For our transitioning friends the benefits of massage therapy come from pain management, increasing circulation to keep body temperature up, removal of toxins from body by increasing lymphatic drainage, and by aiding in the overall health of the muscles - muscle tone, flexibility and movement. I aim to bring calm and relaxation to our elders and our ailing friends. Palliative care is specialized treatment for our transitioning companion friend - canine or equine, whether aged, or ill. This type of care is focused on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of ageing or of serious illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for the time remaining, for both the patient and the family caring for him or her. Palliative care is the specialized treatment of dogs and horses suffering from the symptoms of disease process, or failing organs. Using Holistic treatments like Massage, Hydrotherapy, Stretching, Acupressure, and Reflexology, I can treat the pain, depression, shortness of breath, fatigue, constipation, nausea, loss of appetite, anxiety and any other symptoms that may cause distress and affect quality of life. My goal is to create as gentle, peaceful, and comfortable as possible experience for the end of life transition for your loved and cherished companion.
