To go along with the video talking about bulldogs..brachial breeds tend to be disliked by other dogs because the first thing dogs see is that pushed in face and teeth coming towards them which put them on the defensive side right away.

Homer is mostly deaf. He can hear high-pitched noises, but that may change as he is only just 6 months old. So we are training him with hand signals for the most part. When someone has difficulty with deaf dogs, they think there is no hope. This is not true. Homer is doing fantastic. And you will notice he is on a flat buckle collar. Not all dogs require the same type of training tool.

Be wary folks. This is the second dog in our Region to be poisoned by just walking through drugs. The first dog passed away from the poisoning.

Dog found to have ingested Co***ne and Ma*****na while on walk in St. Catharines.

An Owner walked her dog today (January 10th) along 12 mile Creek in St. Catharines (Glendale and Glenridge area) today. At approximately 6:00-6:30pm the dog appeared very Ill and couldn’t walk. The dog was rushed to the emergency vet and was tested. They found significant amounts of Co***ne and Ma*****na & possibly traces of Fentanyl in its system. Thankfully the vet was able to administer the equivalent of Naloxone to the dog and it will be monitored overnight. The prognosis is unknown at this time.

The vet advises they have seen 6 other similar cases from this SAME area recently.

The owners would like to warn the public to ensure this doesn’t happen to someone else’s pet.
Thank you.

This is from Southend Dog Training in the UK. But really this is for all the world and anyone with a dog. Dogs don't just 'understand.' They have to be taught. They don't know what language you are speaking. And you don't just expect them to understand. You teach them.

What Did You Do ???
When a dog does something you have 1-3 seconds to reward and/or correct them for them to build the association to what they’ve done. Anything after that doesn’t really count.
Dogs are not human and you can’t sit down layer and explain what they did wrong. Once they move on to the next thing they often forget about the previous thing.
Dogs that destroy things when left alone could be for a few reasons
1. Separation anxiety
2. Boredom
3. Lack of understanding of how to behave.
Either way crate training is what keeps them safe.

This is very, very true. I can teach you. But ultimately, it is up to you to implement and practice.

This is very, very true. I can teach you. But ultimately, it is up to you to implement and practice.

Dog trainers don’t possess any magic. What they do possess, if they’re good at their craft, is a highly developed set of skills. But remember, at one point they knew very little, and likely got into this line of work because they were struggling with their own dogs.

So what’s different between a skilled and knowledgeable dog trainer and a struggling owner? Yep, you guessed it, skills and knowledge.

These people that you now hire for help were once struggling much like yourself. What did they do? They developed within themselves—likely with the help of another dog trainer—what was necessary to be able to solve their problems, and now, with all that ability, they help others with theirs’.

But, and this is a big but, all they can do is help. They can share information, teach skills, coach, and root you on—but only you can put in the work to take what is being shared and make it something personal, integrated, and useful.

You don’t have to become a dog trainer, but you do have to become a skilled, and knowledgeable owner—to whatever extent needed to match your goals.

Otherwise you’ll have to settle for watching your dog “magically” excel with your trainer, and “mysteriously” deteriorate with you.

Yup and yup...so true!

Yup and yup...so true!

Why not?

Because the answer will undoubtedly require an enormous increase in mental and physical effort.

Because the answer will undoubtedly require you to adjust many of your comfortable and enjoyed lifestyle patterns and behavior.

Because the answer will undoubtedly require you to prioritize the well-being of your dog over your own emotional payoffs.

Because the answer will undoubtedly require you to embrace interactions which are less comfortable and self-rewarding than you would prefer.

Because the answer will undoubtedly require you to become—to some degree— a different, and improved person.

If you don’t mind the answer, you’ve got no problems getting things sorted.

When doing public access with your service dog, ensure you are in control and your dog is behaving as a service dog should. If your dog is misbehaving, leave. You are representing the whole service animal industry and one unruly or misbehaved dog throws a caution light up on all other service dogs. Do you need help? Ask, that is what we, as trainers, are there for. You should have a solid foundation for your service dog. Accidents and bad days happen. It is understandable.

Cody and Terra are working hard and getting it right. She has come a long, long way! As a new rescue she was bubbly, bouncy and sometimes unruly. Training has given her focus and helped to calm her. She is doing fantastic with Cody's help.
