Why an exam? The importance of a physical exam before vaccination is often misunderstood and one of the frequent questions we get asked- why must we pay an exam fee when our pets just need a vaccination.
The reason we must perform an exam before a vaccination is to ensure that your pet is of good health. Vaccines trigger an immune response and if your pet has an underlying issue prior to vaccination, it could make matters worse. If we do not examine, we also do not have a base understanding of what your pet was like if a reaction does occur.
Vaccines are often the only reason you need to bring them in, which means if they do come in for a physical exam part way through the year we will know if there are any changes that are developing. Exams are also the time spent consulting with you regarding your pets ongoing health and wellness plans and any physical changes that have been noticed, such as dental concerns, weight management, diet consultations etc. We are happy to help answer any questions you may have regarding your pet’s vaccine protocol.
Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!

How hot is too hot? 🐾 As an experiment, RVT Cally thought she’d see if her car-with tinted windows & parked partially in the shade-would get hot enough to bake cookies. Even on an overcast day the car did get hot enough to become an oven. Even if it’s just for a few minutes it still isn’t safe for pets or children to be left in the car. 🐾Have a safe & happy summer 😎

It’s going to be a hot couple of days. Please ensure to take extra precautions to keep your dogs cool. Exercise them only in the early morning or late evening. Have fresh water available at all times. Brachycephalic (flat faced) breeds, old, and young dogs are particularly susceptible to heat stroke. Call a veterinarian immediately if you think your pet has signs of heat stroke.

Hello everyone! With the recent announcement of Stage 1 Re-opening, we thought we would provide a quick update for our services. At this time we will be continuing with curbside appointments and supply pick ups only. Although many businesses in the area are allowed to re-open with limited capacity, we will be continuing curbside care due to the number of staff we have working in the clinic, the small space we have to work in together, and for the health and safety of everyone. Due to the size of our clinic and limited ability to social distance inside, opening our doors would limit the number of pets that we can see per day resulting in increased wait times for all appointments. We want to continue to accommodate all of our patients' needs and we feel that by continuing with curbside appointments is the most efficient way to do this. We appreciate everyone's ongoing patience, understanding, and support. Thank you! 😺🐶
