Teddy is looking for his forever home. This beautiful big dude may not be for every family, so please read his description before applying for him. With some love, patience, and guidance, he could be a great dog.
Thank you Melissa for all you do for these pups. 💕

Hi, I’m Melissa, and I’ve been fostering Teddy. He’s had a few fosters before, but unfortunately, they didn’t work out—not because of Teddy, but because he’s a *lot* of dog.

Teddy is still learning about personal space, which can lead to him knocking people or kids over (though he never means to). He’s also working on his leash skills, so it’s been a bit challenging for people to help him de-stimulate when he gets overstimulated. This can sometimes lead to destructive behavior when he gets bored, but we’re making progress!

Teddy has a *big* voice, so he’ll whine or bark when he wants to communicate. This helps us understand what he’s feeling, though it can be a lot for some people.

He doesn’t have much respect for female dogs (he’s in his prime and full of testosterone!), but we’ve had him neutered to help with this. He’d do best with a male dog companion who’s accepting of his energy.

Getting him into a vehicle is a real challenge—not because he’s big, but because he’s terrified of cars. Teddy knows his own strength and will resist getting in. We’ve been doing more car rides, and he’s improving a little each time, but it’s still a work in progress.

Aside from his size, Teddy is a big goofball with a ton of love to give. He gets along with other dogs and would really love a playmate, especially a male dog who can accept his size and energy.

I’m writing this because some people are expecting Teddy to be the typical, calm, easygoing Bernese Mountain Dog. But Teddy lacks confidence, which makes handling him a bit more challenging than it would be for a more secure dog. This is important to understand if you’re considering adopting him.

We’ve had several people back out of adopting Teddy—some haven’t even met him, but based on his size and initial impressions, they assume he won’t be a good fit. Please keep in mind that nonprofit organizations, especially those run by volunteers, have limited time. It’s tough on Teddy to go back and forth between potential adopters, though it does help him learn how to socialize with new people.

Teddy is a big, goofy, lovable guy, and we all adore him here. He gets along with our team, other dogs, and kids. With patience and consistency, Teddy will thrive and make an amazing companion.

(Teddy always looks this goofy) 🥰☺️

🎄🐾 Kris Kringle the Holiday... Pup has some tail-wagging holiday tips to keep your dogs safe this season! 🐕✨

While it’s tempting to share your holiday feast, here are a few things to keep in mind for your furry friends:

🍖 Turkey is okay in small amounts, but skip the skin, bones, and stuffing!
🥓 Ham can be too fatty and cause upset tummies, so give it sparingly.
🥔 Watch out for veggies—plain is fine, but avoid anything with butter, seasoning, or garlic!
🍫 IMPORTANT: Keep all chocolate far away from your pup—especially dark chocolate, which can be toxic to dogs, even in small amounts!

Remember, some foods we love can be harmful to our dogs, so stick to safe treats and keep them happy and healthy this holiday season! 🎁🐶

🎄🎅 Kris Kringle the Holiday Cat has some important holiday tips for your feline friends! 🐱✨

Keep your kitties safe this season by avoiding foods and drinks that could upset their tummies or be toxic. 🍽️ While turkey, ham and veggies are okay in small amounts, remember:

🍖 Ham is super fatty and can cause tummy troubles if given in large amounts. 🍗 Turkey breast is fine, but skip the skin and bones! 🥄 A tiny drop of gravy on your finger is a fun treat, but too much can lead to a mess!

As for veggies, they’re not necessary in your cat’s diet, so avoid any that are seasoned or buttery. Let's keep our kitties happy and healthy this holiday season! 🎁🐾

Patti needs a forever home!

Meet Patti, the ultimate cuddle connoisseur and your future heart-melter! ?? This girl’s all about those warm, fuzzy vibes and, let me tell you, she’s got enough snuggles to keep you cozy for life. Sure, she might play hard-to-get at first, but give her a hot minute and boom—your lap is now her personal throne.

Patti’s got energy for days! Walks? Oh, she’s all about them. Whether it’s a stroll through the park or a mission to sniff every blade of grass on your block, she’s ready to explore the world like it’s one giant buffet of smells. And did we mention she’s a bit of a social butterfly? Well, a butterfly that prefers to fly solo in an adult-only home, that is. Let’s just say Patti’s into “chill vibes” and quiet nights in.

Now, she’s not perfect (yet), but she’s basically a furry sponge for learning. A few treats and some patience, and Patti’s going to be a doggie superstar in no time. Basic training? Pfft, she’s ready to impress, and she’ll be wagging her tail all the way through it.

So, if you’re in the market for a cuddle bug who just wants to love you and live that simple life, Patti’s got your name written all over her future dog bed!

What's happening here? Why is this dog all Frankensteined?

This is a post-surgery x-ray for a TPLO (Tibial-Plateau-Leveling Osteotomy) is a surgical procedure performed to stabilize the stifle joint in dogs after a ruptured cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) — similar to an ACL tear in humans. The goal of the surgery is to adjust the tibial plateau to minimize sliding motion and reduce stress on the ligament, helping your pup get back to their active self! 🦴🐕

🎄🐾 Holiday Plants & Pet Safety: A Reminder 🐾🎄

As we decorate our homes for the holidays, it's important to remember that some festive plants can be dangerous for our furry friends. Here’s a breakdown of the most common holiday plants and how they can affect your pets:

🌿 Mistletoe
Mistletoe contains toxic compounds called viscotoxin, which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and even more serious symptoms like seizures or heart problems if ingested. Keep it out of reach of pets and avoid hanging it where they might nibble.

What to do: If your pet eats mistletoe, contact your vet immediately or call a pet poison hotline.

🍃 Holly
Holly leaves and berries contain saponins, which can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The berries are especially dangerous if eaten in large quantities.

What to do: If your pet munches on holly, monitor for signs of distress and get in touch with your vet right away.

🍂 Ivy
English Ivy is a common decoration but contains toxins that can cause severe gastrointestinal upset, including drooling, vomiting, and even convulsions.

What to do: If your pet eats ivy, call your vet immediately. Try to keep your pet calm and hydrated until help arrives.

🌺 Poinsettias
While not as toxic as some of the others, poinsettias can cause mild irritation to a pet’s mouth, stomach, and digestive system. They may experience drooling, vomiting, or discomfort.

What to do: If your pet chews on a poinsettia, they might feel a little ill but will likely recover with time. Still, contact your vet for guidance, just to be safe.

🎅 Kris Kringle the Holiday Cat says: Keep these festive plants high up and out of your pet's reach! And if you're unsure, always call your vet or a poison control hotline for advice. Safety first, so your pets can enjoy the holidays too! 🎄🐱
