Star is currently attending a 5 day stay & train with me from a local rescue and we are needing a new foster or forever home for this girl after training is completed on Sunday. She is currently in a busy house with an overstimulated dog and kids and it's just too overwhelming for her to be successful.
Star is a small bully breed (55 lbs) who is 9 months. She's spayed and has all of her shots up to date. She's a sensitive girl who will excel in a quiet home with no busy kids or other dogs running around her. I haven't seen any reactivity around stable, calm dogs while she's been with me.
She's super friendly and a great dog who is just in the wrong environment to be successful. I would keep her myself if I could I like her that much but it's not an option for me!
During her stay & train she is learning to walk great on a leash, ecollar and placement and is already a quiet girl in her crate. If you can take her you'll receive the ecollar, placement cot and leash to ensure your success.

Star is having a hard time in her home with another pup. Her foster family has been incredibly kind and patient with her while trying to combat some issues but as many fosters know, you can only do so much before it starts affecting everyone in the house.
Star is set to go to Prairieburn for her 5 day stay and train this Wednesday and we are sending out a big ask for someone to foster her and continue the work that Prairieburn is about to start with her.
She is in need of a house with no other pups and no small children.
Star is up to date on vaccines, has heartguard and NexGard, dewormed and spayed.
PLEASE send a message if you can help Star.
If we do not find someone before Wednesday, we will have to withdraw Star from the course and look at alternative options.

Her foster family has been given some very time sensitive and troubling news that will leave them in a position where they can't care for her.
Mama is a great young pup with so much to offer a home. She's good with other pups and loves to go for bike rides! She shares a lot of affection and is a good roommate.
She is not a large dog. About medium size coming in around 45lbs.

Busy day today!
Star was picked up from niverville and driven to Gladstone Vet Clinic for her spay today and then driven back home.
No babies ever, YAY!
She was very nervous but Tanya and her team took good care of her. Always a great feeling being able to leave your dog knowing that they are in the best hands.
If her foster family could heal her with love, she would have made a complete recovery in 15 minutes of being home.
Then somewhere in the day we managed to skip over to Douglas Campbell Lodge with Nora for some socialization with the residents!
So many of them were so excited to see a puppy and getting a few pets and kisses. I was also very impressed by the sanitization protocols that the staff followed after they were done interacting with Nora! We even got to hear a few cute stories from some of the residents about animals they've had in times past.
After all of that, we're hoping that Noras foster family got a good solid quiet few hours.

Yesterday we took mama, Ella (now sapphire) and Nora to Gladstone Vet Clinic for their second set of shots and some Heartguard/NexGard.
Happy to report everyone is healthy, gaining appropriate weight and VERY happy.
Nora definitely was the star of the show as she sang songs at pitches no one's ears could handle and showed the staff that she's a part time stunt double as she was confidently trying to jump from heights that would surely have her leaving in casts.
Thank you again to the fosters who do this day in and day out!

✨OUR BIGGEST FUNDRAISER YET✨
Everyone remember Star, the 8 month old American bully we took in a little over a month ago?
Star is not the same dog that was described to us by her previous owner.
She lives in a constant state of fear and has recently redirected that onto one of her foster parents.
She is reactive to everything and it's really so sad to see a dog exist in that state. How do you enjoy all that life has to give when you are clouded with fear?
Carisa and Matt have been so so very patient with her through all of this and I'm so grateful.
It's not an easy task, being on edge or feeling like you have no control, not a settling day to day life to live.
She is still so young and we want to equip her and the family with the tools they need to live in a stress-free, calm environment.
She needs emergency intervention, especially given recent events so we are calling in the big guns.
We are going to be enrolling Star in the Stay + Train through Prairieburn K9 Academy. Star will enter in the program on July 3rd and will spend the next 5 days working with Debbi.
There is so much to learn from Deb as a pack leader and she's going to give Star the best shot she's got at living out her bestest, calmest life.
Carisa and Matt will continue the work with Star that Debbi will start and hopefully this will end in an adoption! They are very dedicated to her and that's something that should not be overlooked with a dog like this.

The total cost of this course is $1,884.75.
This will be our biggest fundraiser yet. We will be teaming up with our amazing rep, Hugh, from Worlds Finest Chocolates again and be selling the $3 chocolate covered almonds.
We need to sell 40 cases in order to hit our goal for Star. I've got some very motivated (by ice cream and slurpee) kids in my family that will be going door to door selling chocolates. We are also asking, if anyone is willing, to place a box at their workplace to help us.
I have complete trust in Debbi, Carisa and Matt that together, Star will be shining her brightest with the right structure. 💕

Note: I am not looking for advice but rather sharing a part of this journey that's not often seen.
I always want to be transparent with our following and I'd be lying if I said this girl hasn't been my biggest struggle in all of our years in rescue.
Chola had a meet and greet last week that ended up with her in the kennel. Only the second meet she's ever had.
She met with a mother and her 4 kids and I was on edge watching her interaction with the kids.
And while she presented as stable and unbothered by the mother at first, her demeanor changed not long after.
Excessive growling, barking, lip licking.
I have consulted many times and followed the guidance of Debbi from Prairieburn TO A T.
She should be getting better. Not worse.
If anything, the structure I have given her has only intensified as new issues pop up.
She has redirected on my 1.5yr old ONCE but wasnt enough for me to justify the worst.
She used to be so good with kids and all adults but I'm at the point now where I can't even leave my windows open during the day because she will hear a dog bark, get overstimulated and I'll have to put her back in the kennel to prevent her from hurting one of the other dogs.
I feel defeated.
I feel like I'm running out of options.
I feel like I have done my very very best for her.
I can't provide her a home without other dogs to see what she'd be like in that environment. One where she's less stimulated. I have no one for her. She's been with me for 8 months and I have been doing everything I can think of.
I won't lie and say that even if she was adopted out, would that be responsible of me?
What if she got even worse? What if she got better?
I run these questions through my head over and over and I am mentally exhausted for not knowing what the right thing is to do.
And please, before anyone hops on this post and tells me that I am wrong for thinking certain thoughts, my response to you would be to open up your home for the next 8 months, take her in and do all of the things that I do with her day in and out.
I LOVE Chola. I get to see the side of her that other people don't. She loves to love. She loves to cuddle up right on top of you. She loves to give ENDLESS kisses. She is eager to please her owner. She is obedient.
She is so many things people don't have the privilege of seeing but however the ultimate decisions are on me.
I'm posting this because I'm broken.
As of tomorrow I am starting Chola on CBD. One bottle is costing me $156.79 and I don't know how quickly she will go through this.
I will do this for 1 month and then potentially consult with Tanya at Gladstone to see if she will need to be medicated further.
This is extremely costly for us and we have 8 other dogs in care and an extensive wait-list of dogs needing to come in.
I am overwhelmed by the decisions that are haunting me.
Her going on medication to present differently in HOPES of her being adopted is not a life that I want for her.
Maybe she wouldn't need medication in a single dog household? But who would adopt a dog that poses more of a financial burden when there's so many dogs in rescue that don't?
This is my final cry for help. Chola needs a home with no other dogs, no kids and a STRONG owner who we can walk hand in hand with if her journey is meant to continue.
I'm doing EVERYTHING I can and I really hope this post reaches the right people who can sympathize with what I'm going through.

She is going to have many kids to grow up and grow old with and a mum that's going to provide her with the best life.

Steph and family have named little brown, Ella and Lila has named mama, Daisy, and black baby is now Tulip!
They are getting along great with the other dogs in the home!
These babies are so small you can hold them in just 2 hands and are 8 weeks. Daisy is projected to be around 1 year.
They had their first vet appointment at Gladstone Vet Clinic for shots and dewormer and Daisy the same plus heartgard and NexGard. She also tested negative for heartworm and lime disease!! Horray!

Busy day yesterday.
After running to a few places for supplies I went to Lilas house to make a drop and meet mum and 2 pups and myyyyyyyyy gosh are they ever sweet and TINY!
Mum is so outgoing and beautiful and on the small side...If I were to guess Id think she's under a year.
Thank you Lila for taking these pups in and caring for them and for donating puppy food!
After that I went and picked up the American Bully, Star, and drove her out to her foster home.
Star has not been exposed to very much of the world so shes got a journey ahead of herself to be a more confident pup but judging by the photo from this morning (cuddled up with foster mum fireside) and after meeting this family, she's going to do so well here! Truly an environment where they are going to give her the time she needs to open up and become a less anxious version of herself.

FOSTER FOUND FOR 2 PUPS. NEEDING FOSTER FOR MAMA (DAISY)

A few days we were asked to do intake for this mum two pups who were pulled from Peguis.
Don't have much info on them but mum is a very good mum, sweet and gentle.
The pups will be officially 8 weeks next week so in a perfect world I am hoping we can find 1 or 2 fosters to take either both pups, or for them to go separate.
Ljilja Brajkovic has offered to foster however we would still like to separate mum and pups hopefully by next week. Or if someone wants to foster mum as well, that's also an option.
We are aiming to get them all vetted next week and to help mum start drying up some.
Breed is predicted to be boxer mix

Thankful for Prairieburn K9 Academy guidance in helping us continue to work with Chola. . This morning's kennel session went great and I saw her switch to calm the quickest yet after coming in from outside. . We are working our way up to getting further away from the kennel while she is placed.
Does anyone remember Ode (now Luna) one of the 4 Anatolian Shepards? Take a look at her now! This video has me bawling 😭 her owner, Nicole has helped her come such a long long way. I can't even express my gratitude to her for dedicating the time to rehabilitate her. We are hoping for a reunion of all 4 Anatolian sisters come summer 💕

Dropped Yekta girl off at her fosters this afternoon and I have high hopes she will adjust quickly to the routine there. Shes got another pup to socialize with (and a few horses!) and I trust that she will help her come out of her shell in no time. . Before we left we got familiar with the leash some more and she has done perfectly. Just about building that confidence. . Baby steps.
