Portage Animal Welfare Society Inc. is a non-profit, charitable organization which is operated exclusively by volunteers and is managed by a Board of Directors. In October 2014, P.A.W.S. Inc. realized its dream of opening an Animal Adoption Centre (AAC). The centre allows us to intake and shelter cats while they wait to be adopted into their forever homes. The cats are cared for by volunteers who

give generously of their time to ensure they are provided a safe, clean environment. The cats are allowed time for socialization, exercise and plenty of cuddles on a daily basis. The AAC operates under the guidelines of the Chief Veterinarian Office of Manitoba and is subject to regular inspections to ensure quality of care for the cats. Our adoptable dogs are cared for in foster homes. The foster families play a valuable role in socializing the dogs to a family environment in preparation for being placed in suitable permanent homes. Rudy is all decked out in his Tuxedo hoping visitors will notice what a handsome boy he is. His tux was getting a little tight so he is on a fitness regime now. We actually witnessed him jogging down the hallway. Rudy has been described as a mover and a shaker. He gets along with most of the other cats; but being a very social, loving cat he prefers to be around the volunteers at the shelter, as he knows he will get a lot of affection. He can be quite chatty for those that engage him in a conversation. He will let you know his wants and desires. Rudy would love for visitors to come and meet him so he can win their hearts and secure a forever home.

Meet Solo, the sweetest little guy with the biggest personality. Solo is well suited for families; he loves kids of all ages and gets along well with dogs and cats. Solo has mastered how to sit, and spin and walks very well on a leash and does great in his kennel.

Currently, Solo is learning how to lay down and is working on house training.

Meet Lander, Legend & Benjamin, a.k.a. the Three Amigos! These sweet boys arrived at PAWS the same time and have brought a youthful spirit to the main cat room. They are all between the age of about 6 - 9 months.
Benjamin is a bundle of energy and enjoys a shoulder snuggle. He wears his tuxedo with style. Lander is a sweet boy with beautiful amber eyes. He proudly carries his treasured toys around and is very loveable. Legend is playful and an expert cuddler with a powerful purrrrrr. And he’s oh-so soft.

Chet is settling into his new life of love and playfulness! Full of puppy energy, eagerly exploring his surroundings, learning boundaries with his foster family, including dogs and cats. Chet loves his chew toys and fetch, sleeping at night in his kennel, which at first, he wasn’t sure of but cozies in easily after a few nights of learning everything new!

Chet is working hard on house training which he is mastering as long as his cues are recognized! No accidents overnight either! Chet is sweet and cuddly, so happy to be loved, can always be found by your side and can’t wait to find his furever home!
