Portage Animal Welfare Society Inc. is a non-profit, charitable organization which is operated exclusively by volunteers and is managed by a Board of Directors. In October 2014, P.A.W.S. Inc. realized its dream of opening an Animal Adoption Centre (AAC). The centre allows us to intake and shelter cats while they wait to be adopted into their forever homes. The cats are cared for by volunteers who

give generously of their time to ensure they are provided a safe, clean environment. The cats are allowed time for socialization, exercise and plenty of cuddles on a daily basis. The AAC operates under the guidelines of the Chief Veterinarian Office of Manitoba and is subject to regular inspections to ensure quality of care for the cats. Our adoptable dogs are cared for in foster homes. The foster families play a valuable role in socializing the dogs to a family environment in preparation for being placed in suitable permanent homes. Happy International Cat Day! The PAWS cats are celebrating by holding an OPEN HOUSE this Saturday, Aug. 10 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. They look forward to meeting you at the shelter, 121-12th St. NE.

International Cat Day was created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) to raise awareness about cats' needs and welfare and to encourage cat ownership and care.

Hi I’m Buddy! 🐶
I am currently living with my foster family on an acreage. I get along with a variety of species, as long as they like me too and don’t run away, because then I like to chase them!
I do not like being in a kennel, likely due to past trauma I’ve experienced.
I walk well on leash, love car rides, toys, and know how to sit and shake. Foster mom says I’m sweet, smart, and food motivated.
I love hanging out with humans of all ages, and do well both indoor and outdoors.
I was recently at the vet, where I was examined, neutered and vaccinated.
I am ready to be adopted and I’ll be forever grateful to have a place I can call home!

Sprocket had a busy weekend and it shows! 💤💤

He spent a few days with a temporary foster who also has adoptable Wilson, and they had a blast playing!

Saturday he met Belle Photography and rocked his photo shoot - stay tuned for new Sprocket photos 📸

Today he got a bath and pawdicure and is heading back to his foster!

Sprocket would make an awesome family member, he is so smart, kennel trained, house trained and does well with dogs, cats and kids.

Hi my name is Buddy! I was in a local pound for 4+months due to unforseen circumstances, no fault of my own I really hated it there. I am now living with my foster family on an acreage. I get along with a variety of species, as long as they like me too and don’t run away, because then i like to chase them!
I do not like being in a kennel, likely due to past trauma i’ve experienced.
I walk well on leash, love car rides, toys, and know how to sit and shake. Foster mom says i’m sweet, smart, and food motivated.
I love hanging out with humans of all ages, and do well both indoor and outdoors.

Our garage sale last weekend was a huge success; bringing in over $980! We cannot thank you all enough for the generous donations and support! It was so wonderful to connect with community members who were donating and purchasing items. The positive feedback and kind words were so appreciated!
