Yes!! This us sooo important to know with ANY of the herding breeds! Know the breed before you invest or give up on one!

"See this picture? It's an Australian Shepherd HERDING the sheep. See the nip? The push with her teeth/muzzle? She's HERDING, not biting! Some Aussies, especially young ones, may do this to their human - and be tossed out of the house for "biting my kid". The Aussie was herding your kid, slowing the kid down from running thru the house, turning the kid toward a different direction, etc...
So many Aussie end up in shelters because humans misunderstood the breed and, instead of teaching the dog appropriate herding behavior, their natural instinct, they toss the dog out of the house.
Make sure you understand what a bite is and isn't. 9 out of 10 times it was inappropriate herding and easily changed." - Joanne Leavitt

Breed of the week: Czochoslovakian WolfDog.

The Czechoslovakian Vlcak (CSV) was originally bred for working border patrol in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s. They are currently used in Europe and the United States for search and rescue, tracking, obedience, agility, drafting, herding, and working dog sports.

Rare Breed of the week is: Peruvian Inca Orchid. What a cool name! And check out all the colors and markings accepted in the AKC breed standard!! 😮 😯 😲 Love it!

"The breed can be hairless or coated, and comes in three sizes: small, medium and large. Lively and alert, these dogs can be very good hunters and do well in lure coursing, rally and agility." -AKC Website. They arent recognized in the CKC yet.
