The Request ⬇️
His owners didn’t expect miracles, but they were hoping for a few more calm and thoughtful moments with him. They had done a lot of obedience training prior, but that isn’t necessary calming.

The Method ⬇️
During our one-on-one training together, we went down to the harbour to explore where everything was a bit new to him (and it was the first time I saw his happy tail go down). After exploring at his pace, we went to the end of the dock where I put out a mat. Within a minute, he easily laid down. Not a down stay obedience —but a relaxed down. There is a difference! This was real relaxation.

The Result ⬇️
Since I've been taking him out and about and working with him; developing some self control, implied manners in different situations, he can even lay down and relax now...sometimes 😂😇 😍 It's all a work in progress and a great reminder to go at your dogs pace!

On Hunter's graduation day they consistently stayed one up one down…

This big-little guy is super sociable and active. What breed he is exactly, we’re not sure. His owners were told he was a lab/husky cross when they adopted him, but many of his traits point to a German Shepherd 🤔. His temperament is solid and he is social and smart! He gets activated easily, but is also responsive. Sometimes this works in our favour, and sometimes....not so much. Learning is always happening with Hunter, and that’s why one on one training sessions are my favourite choice for most dogs and their owners - as long as they get enough 'real life' training opportunities, and incorporate practice!

Together, with his humans, we conquered four one-on-one training sessions at home, around the neighbourhood, and the park, ensuring we covered all the puppy priorities. At only 18 weeks, Hunter has a lot of learning left to do, but the important thing was establishing which ones were worth focussing on now, and which ones can wait 👏🏼

We can't wait to see him grow up! 💚
