Puppies are starting to play wrestle and show more interest in their surroundings! This age is so fun because they can’t get into too much trouble yet! www.continentalmeadows.com
Babies will be getting their photos taken tomorrow so we can do formal introductions of them tomorrow! We can’t wait to introduce you all to them properly! Stay tuned!

Puppies have arrived! We have had a very busy time around here with these little babies. Stay tuned for a lot of puppy video/photos to come!
Puppies arrived on May28th/29th.
I’m really not sure why she lets him do this 😂
Gretchen’s ultrasound
Here is Gretchens ultrasound from yesterday! It’s super interesting to see the puppies on the ultrasound. We were able to see heartbeats and their legs moving and spines. So cool!
We counted approximately six puppies, but this is just a rough estimate as counting puppies on ultrasounds isn’t always accurate.
We are still accepting families for the waitlist. Check out www.continentalmeadows.com for details!
Happy New Year everyone from all of us at Continental Meadows!www.continentalmeadows.com
Gretchen is really starting to understand the weave poles really well! She is super handler oriented and really focused on her training. We love her! www.continentalmeadows.com
Beckett and I learning to put course elements together in agility. I still think a little too slowly for Beckett! Unfortunately Beckett is training with a handler who is still green at agility (me 😅) so he will have to wait until I catch up in skill and knowledge. I can’t express how clever and trainable Standard Poodles are too much! They love to train and work with their handlers on new things. www.continentalmeadows.com
Beckett tried the jump that the dogs training in IGP used! No hesitation at all! He’s got plenty of athleticism and jumping ability and he is so keen to try new things. www.continentalmeadows.com
It was Gretchen’s birthday a few days ago and Lianne sung a rousing rendition of happy birthday to Gretchen. I’m not sure she enjoyed it?

Temperament is really important! Dogs are our friends and companions who live closely with us and our families. There are multiple scientific studies with findings that temperament is a inheritable trait. That's why we pay attention to temperament in our dogs. Things that we look for in temperament in our dogs:
*Are they people oriented? Do they like and choose to spend time with people?
*Are they easily trained and pick up new concepts quickly?
*Are they able to behave neutrally towards other dogs?
*How do they react to strangers once they are introduced?
*If they are startled, how quickly do they recover?
*How do they react to novel stimuli in the environment?
*Are they able to relax, lounge, nap and sleep when the occasion calls for it?
*Do they have separation anxiety? Are they comfortable being alone for short periods of time?
*Do they resource guard?
*Do they allow handling of their body?
All these things of temperament matter! Raising dogs with potential for dog sport and grooming competitions is something we are passionate about, but something we must never lose sight of is that our dogs are pets and family members first! We are committed to doing everything possible to stack the deck in that puppy's favor so they can become a treasured family member for their lifetime.
Here is Beckett in a charming display of his excellent temperament. He loves to give hugs to everyone he meets and he loves affection from anyone he can get it from!

Why a poodle?
Standard Poodles are fabulous dogs with an undeserved reputation for being "foo foo" dogs. In reality Standard Poodles are intelligent, athletic, gregarious dogs that make outstanding family companions. If you're looking for an active family companion that is non-shedding then a Standard Poodle might be the right dog for you!
We are always ready to talk about dogs and Standard Poodles! Send us a message if you'd like to learn more!
Beckett loves training! We are currently in training with Beckett for a variety of canine dog sports and he is loving every minute of it!
Standard Poodles are a very intelligent breed of dog and they pick up on new concepts quickly. The breed comes with a very good "off switch" meaning they enjoy their training and exercise but will settle into relaxation with you when it's time to watch Netflix. This means that you can really enjoy your dog as a family pet as well as do active things with your dog. Standard Poodles make a great partner for just about anyone wanting to dip their toe into trying dog sports. They've got plenty of intelligence and enough drive to do dog sports, without having life altering drive and obsession. (Think high octane dogs like Malinois or Border Collie than can have so much drive and intensity that living with them becomes difficult for the less experienced)
We highly recommend taking training classes with your dog. It helps build positive socialization experiences for your dog as well as builds your relationship and your dogs engagement with you.
