A reminder that NPC is offering a new service to support our commitment to reusing and reducing!

NOC welcomes you to bring your old leashes, collars and horse tack in for repairs. Our skilled staff can repair chewed or broken leashes, worn harnesses, collars, reins and other leather products with our new industrial machinery.

You can drop into the workshop on Friday or Saturday between noon and 5pm to discuss repairs with Dee.

You can also buy a beautiful new leather collar or leash if we can’t repair it. We have a great selection of leather leashes and collars in the workshop, and we can even custom-build one to your specifications. We also offer engraved plates and tags that can be added to collars with your dog’s name and contact information.

Puppy/Small Dog Beginners Classes
Dogs in this group class are generally younger than six months old or are small in stature. This option would be an excellent placement for more senior Yorkies, Bichons, or Sheltie-sized dogs. This is a perfect place to teach basic obedience and socialization skills. We offer short, controlled “meet and greet” sessions throughout the series.

Noel can arrange to come to your home for your 4 private lessons. This is particularly beneficial because Noel can observe your dog in its own environment. This way he can recommend different strategies that pertain specifically to you and your dog.

CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB COMPETITION PREPARATION CLASSES

Noel Pepin Canine Behaviour Specialists is pleased to announce Preparation Classes for Dog Trainers interested in Competing in Canadian Kennel Club Obedience Trials.

These classes will be instructed by Treana Rink. Treana has trained dogs which have achieved High in Trial Obedience Scores. In her last two trials, Treana scored 198, and 194 1/2, out of a possible of 200 hundred points. Treana is an excellent trainer, and will help you and your canine pal to become better prepared for competition. Whether you want to compete, or just improve your dog’s level of performance, these classes will be fun!

These classes will be held two evenings per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays), starting on Thursday, September 7th, at Noel’s Training Center — 7590 Chilako Road. There will be a total of 6, forty-five minute sessions. Treana will review CKC rules and regulations. Participants will practise obedience skills and trial routines. The last few sessions will involve ‘practice trials’, to help trainers get a feel for competition.

If you are interested and would like more details, please contact Noel at [email protected]. Spaces are limited to 6 dogs per class, and will be filled on a first come first serve basis. All dogs will need to be assessed in advance, to ensure they can work in a friendly manner around other dogs.

MEET NOEL PEPIN!

Noel Pepin Canine Behaviour Specialists – NPC – grew out of my love for teaching, and my love for dogs. For many years, my main focus was teaching humans; my hobby was training dogs. Twenty five years ago, I decided to combine both of my interests and started Noel Pepin Canine Behaviour Specialists, a dog training School dedicated to presenting a balanced and systematic approach to dog education. I wanted to create a friendly and effective learning environment for owners and their dogs.

My background as a teacher allowed me to develop a sequenced curriculum for dogs, using motivational strategies to master clear learning goals. I used the same teaching/learning strategies successfully with my own dogs.

My dogs have achieved titles and certifications in Canadian Kennel Club Obedience and Tracking competitions. I have bred, trained, and certified multiple dogs to internationally recognized Schutzhund (IPO) titles, in tracking, obedience, and protection.

My greatest satisfaction, however, comes from being a teacher – now with dogs and their people. Working with individual pet owners to overcome problems that emerge as their dog goes from being a puppy, to an adolescent to an adult, is so rewarding. Working with group classes of puppies and young dogs, as they learn to sit, to come and to walk without pulling, still makes me excited. Seeing owners laugh and learn with their dogs brings me joy.

In 2020 I was honoured to have been asked by the BC Institue of Justice to become a Validator in the Service Dog Program. In this capacity, I will be evaluating service dogs to ensure they meet the stringent requirements of the BC Institue of Justice.

I feel very fortunate to be able to work with dogs and an exceptional team of training associates and assistants. I am proud to work with the NPC team. They understand the skills and theories presented in our classes, and treat all clients with respect. We stand by our motto, ‘Your success is our success!’
