Caring K9 Institute Professional Therapy Dog , Service Dog and Obedience Training Programs

Caring K9 Philosophy:
Building on the existing relationships between owners and their dogs the Caring K9 Institute trains people on how to develop their dog’s skills and provides an opportunity and outlet for a K9 team to be of service to different groups of vulnerable populations who could benefit from positive interactions with a fun-loving, patient and friendly dog and their human. The training

is offered in various modalities including classroom settings, outdoor adventure challenges, public locations and basic internet course work and e-training. We welcome dogs and people of all shapes and sizes and know that each dog can bring a different skill set to therapeutic interactions. Though not all dogs may have the right temperament for therapy work or service dog work, we believe ALL BREEDS have the potential to become working dogs.

🎓🐾A huge congratulations goes out to this Fully Certified Professional Therapy Dog Team 🎓We have had the pleasure of working with Mabel and Paula for the past few years and have thoroughly enjoyed being apart of their journey! Watching their bond strengthen and their confidence grow with every new task they mastered was remarkable to witness! Even though Mabel has only just turned 3 she has already put in numerous hours working at Peden Hill Elementary and providing comfort and support to their students. Thank-you Paula and Mabel for all you continue to do to help in our community and also trusting us to be apart of journey!

Here they are folks! These teams completed the just basics course with flying colours! There where teams that hadn’t ever trained before, trained but hadn’t been to a classes in years and some that where using this course for desensitization and socialization! Whichever brought them to us we are so proud of each and everyone of them and are happy and privileged to be trusted to be part of their journey! We can’t wait to see you all again very soon! 🎉🐾🫶🎊

Hello Caring K9 family, friends and supporters! With the holidays quickly approaching we would love to ask your help with any extras you may have to support one of our amazing fellow Prince George rescues!

🐾A bit of a backstory: I learned about soft paws cat rescue society through one of our amazing clients after exhausting all other options when being faced with a situation of neglect to a few small furry friends. When we where faced with the sad reality that there may not be any other option then to leave them to surrcome to their surroundings Soft Paws cat rescue society jumped into action and helped when no one else would! Of course with any rescue the heart breaking task isn’t over with having to deal with the sad stories and shape of some of their most critical of cases but the reality of the work quickly building up and prevents them from continuing their fight! This of course being vet bills, housing issues and keeping everyone fed and looked after!

I’m hoping we can band together and help this small but might rescue have a bit more rest this holiday season knowing that their Caring K9 Family is here with them!

Here are a list of just a few things they are requesting:

Good kitten kibble

KMR powder

Soft blankets for kennels and crates

Recycling Bottles- Nechako Bottle Depot - bring bottles in and ask to add it to account #550

Non-tip bowls are a bonus but ones that can clip to a wire kennel for food and water to avoid tips spills and dumps.

$$$ - e-transfers directly to soft paws [email protected]

$$$ - to ospika animal hospital - account spcr (or soft paws)

$$$ - one of our trainers will be happy to pick up and donate in your name

Do you have a masters degree? Well I’m proud to announce, THESE AMAZING DOGS DO!!! These brilliant pups have just completed their masters degrees and are on their way to their doctorates! Please help cheer them on!!!! ❤️🎓🐾🎉

❤️🐾Please help us congratulate these brilliant level 1&2 therapy dog teams!! They have all worked very hard and are all well on their way to creating a new career for themselves! Congratulations again 🎊🎉🐾🫶❤️

These brilliant pups all successfully passed their bachelors of obedience program with flying colours!! We are proud of each and everyone of them and all their hard work! We can’t wait to see them all again for their masters program! ❤️🎓🐾

In classes we always discuss work/life balance for our working dogs and how to build enrichment in their lives, a great way to let our dogs just be dogs and decompress is to take them on a 'sniffari' or 'go sniff' walk and let them use all their dog senses and just enjoy themselves ❤️🐾 Charlotte had a big day of working with a SDit team and doing errands with her handler so to decompress afterwards she went on a walk where she just used her nose. You can see her nose is to the ground 99% of the time, she's on a long lead and leading the direction of the walk wherever that little nose takes us! A 2km sniff walk will exhaust her more than a 5km physical walk as she's using all her senses versus being in a heel and obedient the entire walk! I urge you all to try it and see the happiness in your pups face and the adventure they take you on ❤️🐾

Some new gorgeous faces we are so proud to welcome into the caring k9 Family and some amazingly loyal and brilliant family members we were so excited to have back! Happy Friday everyone!!
