Every once in a while I get to climb on a horse and have my own therapy, a time where I may receive the care of a horse rather than facilitate it. This is what happens...
Calling in the herd part 2
First Ever Riding Lesson for 5 year old girl
I love instructing people who are passionate and driven to do what they desire. This little gal did an awesome job for her first ever riding lesson on a 1300lb AQHA Gelding named Smokie.
Smokie is my main lesson horse and therapy horse. He really is a one of a kind and really took care of this little girl and she did her darndest to back him up in a bitless bridle.
I love watching the horses in the field. This was Jaluka, Luna and Smokie after a rainstorm today.
Snuck some equine therapy in at my lunch hour ;)
Getting ready for the Women Who Have Experienced domestic Violence Workshop tomorrow. This is Lenna getting Smokie prepped for the auditory meditation piece.
That's a good itch :) This is one of our therapy horses Jaluka. She is a 13 year old Arabian mare.
It's a great day for therapy ;)
Today I miss my horses.
How they smell, how they move.
I miss the sound they make breathing and releasing tension, swishing tails, stomping feet.
It's that time of year where a warmer layer of hair is growing in. It's warm to the touch like down.
I really feel they are pieces of me.
I've been owned by this mare for nearly 18 years.
She has seen me through some rough patches. Seen me crumble and survive. Seen me raise a family and has allowed my small people on her back.
She has gently carried first time riders to a level of confidence and understanding and has humbled advances riders.
She's met me in my darkest times and shared joyous occasions in my heart.
I am grateful to have horses in my life. I am grateful to you, Nevada.
