North American Bulldogs

North American Bulldogs If you love American Bulldogs, or Bulldogs in general. This page is for you!

My "North American Bulldogs" belong to the Scott Bulldog line, with the exception of "Cracker" and "Puddles" who are "Hybrids." (meaning that she is a cross between the Scott American Bulldog and the Johnson American Bulldog)

Scott American Bulldog's:
"Allen Scott’s American bulldogs, often called “standard” American bulldogs, remained smaller and more athletic than those bred by Johnson. Despite

being a taller dog, standing between 22 and 27 inches at the shoulder, the Scott type is sometimes mistaken for an American pit bull terrier." Johnson American Bulldogs:
"The Johnson American bulldog, also called the classic American bulldog, is the larger of the two American bulldog types. They stand about 23 to 27 inches at the shoulder and weigh between 90 and 120 pounds. Johnson dogs have heavier bones, wider chests and boxier heads more closely resembling the English bulldog due to a cross with that breed."

My sister Brianna wrote this post in regards to Cracker passing away on May 11th 2025
Were all heart broken. 😭😭😭

To My Fierce and Faithful Girl,

I don’t even know where to begin.

Everything feels wrong without you. The air is too quiet. The days are too long. You were my best friend, my constant, my protector. You were the one thing I could count on in a world that made no sense. And now you’re gone, and I feel like the last light went out.

I keep replaying those final days, wondering what I missed. What I could’ve done sooner, better, louder. How I should’ve fought harder for you. I should’ve known. I should’ve overcome every fear, every roadblock, every piece of broken machinery. I should’ve carried you if I had to. I’m haunted by the thought that you suffered. That you held on longer for me, because I was the one that wasnt ready to let go.

I want answers.

I want to know what happened.

How a dog that never once showed her age can decline so rapidly yet painfully slow at the same time.

I want to know why our cries for help went unanswered. How not a single vet within a 7 hour radius could rise when I needed it most. Most importantly, I want to know why I didn’t act sooner. Why I waited until it was too late to seek the help you needed. I should’ve advocated for you better, quicker. When I first saw the signs.

And yet… I know you wouldn’t blame me.

You never did. Not once in our ten years together. You gave your love freely, fiercely. You never held back. You didn’t care if I was anxious or tired or lost. You didn’t need me to be perfect. You just needed me. And I needed you.

You were my mirror when I couldn’t see my own worth. My warmth when the world was cold. My reason to keep going when everything in me said to quit.

I wish I could hold you one more time. Watch you nudge the cupboards open with your nose, in search of those pesky rodents. See you slap your dish around, demanding me to fill it. See you smile for the spaghetti. Hear the sound of your paws and the different tones in your bark. Feel you cuddle beside me through the long night

But all I can do is carry you now. In every brave step I take. In every time I stand up for myself. In every moment I choose to live like the person you saw me as; worthy, strong, worth protecting

You didn’t just love me. You taught me how to love. How to fight. How to stay. You showed me what it truly looks like to have guts

Thank you,

Cracker

Our Story

“We have created this page to share love for the American Bulldog breed specifically, but also for dogs in general. We hope to help educate people on bully breeds, and dog behaviour. While also maintaining a light and happy atmosphere, where we can all share the love we have for our furry members.” - Brianna Patton & Lydia Patton (Sisters).

About the Breed: Scott American Bulldogs: "Allen Scott’s American bulldogs, often called “standard” American bulldogs, remained smaller and more athletic than those bred by Johnson. Despite being a taller dog, standing between 20 and 26 inches at the shoulder, the Scott type is sometimes mistaken for an American pit bull terrier." Johnson American Bulldogs: "The Johnson American bulldog, also called the classic American bulldog, is the larger of the two American bulldog types. They stand about 22 to 28 inches at the shoulder and weigh between 90 and 120 pounds. Johnson dogs have heavier bones, wider chests and boxier heads more closely resembling the English bulldog due to a cross with that breed." Hybrid American Bulldogs: A cross between Scott and Johnson American Bulldogs, still considered purebred American Bulldogs. Their size and build will differ according to which line they are more likened to. Hybrid AB’s are more often mistaken for Pit-Bull Terrier’s due to carrying the Johnson’s muscular build, combined with the Scott face. However, under closer inspection you can notice that AB’s will always have bigger jowls.
