When you look this good you can handle anything... even Mondays!!!

Laddie is a Sheltie & a senior, what a cutie!

To ensure your pet looks this happy and healthy as they age be sure to talk to your Veterinarian about any changes in your pet's normal routine. It can be helpful to keep a journey of things like energy, attitude, appetite, comfort and mobility to catch even subtle changes!!

Feeding treats to our pets is a way to show them gratitude and affection.
At the clinic, we use them to reaffirm positive behavior.  It allows us to reduce stress in our patients by rewarding them for exam/procedure tolerance and relaxing them with a friendly, tasty offering.

Be sure to let us know if your pet has allergies as we commonly use dehydrated beef liver treats but always have a hypoallergenic alternative on hand!!

Mya & Ms Maggie

Our Veterinary Technicians, like Mya, have many responsibilities including ensuring your pet has a safe anesthesia.

This starts before your pet even arrives for surgery with comfort meds prepared to reduce overall anesthetic requirements and patient stress. Pre-surgical bloodwork is generally also performed before the surgery day. The morning of the procedure a technician will admit your pet and prepare them for surgery. During & afterwards extensive monitoring is done and post op discharge instructions and medications are prepared. Technicians will then send your pet home & follow up afterwards.

This is all very important but so are the snuggles!! So when technicians are asked if all you do is snuggle puppies & kitties all day they happily say yes of course but in truth they wear so many hats, are vital to everyday operations & take your pet's care and safety very seriously.

Mya is a kind, knowledgeable and passionate Veterinary Technician with lots of love for her career and patients. We & Ms. Maggie sure appreciate all that you do!! ❤️ 🐾

Alvin is comfortably recovering after his surgical procedure. Is there nothing more cozy than snuggling up in a warm blanket!

After surgery a warm blanket is not only soothing for your pet but it helps us support their body temperature which can lower under General Anesthesia.

Most cats also appreciate the psychological comfort of having a hidey blanket to feel not as vulnerable or exposed during their visit to the clinic.

We keep warm blankets on hand as well as pheromone appeasement blankets, these will of had Feliway previously applied.

Ask us about the many additional supportive options to make your pet's visit to the vet less stressful!

Dr. Ashley Bernauer offers an integrative approach to veterinary medicine at Qualicum Beach Animal Hospital.

This includes treatments such as acupuncture and laser therapy. Grizzly is seen here happily receiving these treatments in support of his IVDD and arthritis. His owner notices changes in his posture, sitting crooked when he gets sore. The acupuncture and laser therapy make a big improvement in both his posture and comfort! Usually the day after treatment he gets happy zoomies and is visibly more relaxed.

Since this is a minimally invasive procedure most cats tolerate acupuncture and laser therapy quite well. Many will start to purr and even fall asleep!

Talk to your Veterinarian about the many benefits of acupuncture and laser therapy. A referral can be submitted via our website for these and other integrative veterinary medicine practices.
