Funny how this is the same dog. Cheddar is a laid back cuddly house husky until you touch a harness then she is rip roaring hold on tight ready to go. We mush because they love it! Our fun is a side benefit!

Team Sloggin'dogs is running Iron Paws again this year. It is an online stage race I will drop the link in the comments. My team is waking up and getting ready. We are running small sled (1-4 dogs) but we have no snow so will have to hoof it twice as far to get our miles in. Cheer us on!! Will keep you posted about how we are doing and how our gear is holding up. I have some new creations to try out. ( Don't worry Hero is too young to do much but he will do a few short adventures).

What a wonderful Christmas day. Spent the day relaxing and then invented some shorty harnesses for the puppies. Harnesses are getting pretty good so almost ready to get some victim I mean test dogs to see if I can make them by measurements. Crappy pic but it got the feeling of the chaos of a pups first Canicross. Oh how I forget every time and just assume they will do it hahah. Merry Christmas to you all I hope you feel as loved and as spoiled as I do.

My main Girl Cheddar aka Cheddar Cheese, Ched, Cheesy, Squeeze cheese, and Snarly Carly ( oh yes she is)! She is my shadow. Wherever I am so is Ched but never in the way. She is polite and dainty until you touch a harness. She is our lead dog for my team as well as the big team when we combine them all. Then everything is serious! She is very focused and rarely gets sidetracked by a squirrel. She is small and only weighs 45 lbs. At home she loves to chase butterflies and tell everyone what to do including us. Unfortunately for Cheddar she doesn't come across as very believable. Cheesy has two quirks that stand out. First she always wants you to hold her paw. When John is away she gets to sleep in bed and will not settle until I put her paw in my hand then she promptly falls asleep. The second is that she cannot sing. When the herd gets howling it is wonderful EXCEPT Cheddar who sounds like a dying whale ( sorry neighbours). But she is worth all the screaming . Cheddar is my heart dog and it is a good thing because Ched is all heart!!

Reece aka Reece's Pieces, Beast, Fluff butt, and Pounce. Reece is a 1 year old Siberian Husky. He is one of Maya's puppies. He is over 70 lbs now. Reece is the best teddy bear you have ever cuddled. His coat is so soft and fluffy. When I call him he pounces with both feet in the happiest way I can't help but laugh. He is the most laid back dog I have ever seen. I have never seen him get grumpy and everyone loves him. Reece has no idea how big or where his body is. He just lays on anything and everybody he just doesn't care. When he gets snarled at understandably he doesn't even notice. Beast's favorite game is to stuff anything under the couch and then complain and try to get his giant body under the couch after it. He loves it when a human helps rescue his prize that is why he always stuffs it under the couch at your feet. He is more than a clown he is a jester and keeps us laughing. He loves to be outside and is a very easy dog. I sometimes forget him because he doesn't cause problems. He is very vocal and is often talking to no one in particular. He runs with Chuck on John's team and is very strong. If you're having a rough day come cuddle Reece

Oh Maya aka Maya May, Momsy, Momma May and T-rex ( she has no legs)! Maya was found as a stray in a remote community. She was pregnant and ended up at Crooked leg Ranch. I went out to bring them something and there she was. I went home and told John and he said he would like one of her puppies but I could not get Maya ( Then Freya) out of my head. She is a typical Rotten Husky: stubborn, destructive , escape artist and bossy. I knew she would be a handful. So I decided she needed to live with us and not be let down by another human. So we took her home. Escape she did. We fortified fences and bought a tractive gps tracker for her collar. We chased her around the neighbourhood and fortified the fence some more. But she was worth it. She is the sweetest girl you have ever met. She is the quiet ruler of our herd and the best puppy trainer. She loves to be outside in our new house and we built a husky yard that she doesn't want to get out of. She tells you off and won't shut up if she wants something. She has a way of making you feel privileged when she comes for a cuddle. Oh ya Maya is ( we guess) a 5 year old Siberian Husky. She is truly special and worth all of the hassle. She runs on my team and we have to run at 12 km/h or over or she gets bored and starts chasing squirrels (pretty Sure I mm going to die by squirrel). Thanks for choosing me Maya May.

Hero aka scaredy pants, and snuggle bug. Hero is a 6 month old Alaskan Husky. His is going to be my muscle next year and possibly play other sports. He is very timid but we are working on it. He has come a long way and can even go up to people for a treat now. Poor dude still gets carsick so we are working on that hoping he grows out of it soon. He loves to snuggle and have belly rubs. He is full of personality and his face always looks worried ( I think that is just his face). He has never grown into his ears but that just makes him cuter. No he is not a Shepard. Alaskan Huskies come in all colours. He is so fun. Next year I might be a little worried about stopping.

Breakfast for the as***le herd today. Days of rain and 6 weeks of straight reno no play .= A herd of rotten huskies. If you don't know huskies rotten means: snarly, destructive, stubborn, rules be damned, full out all day dog. Think of a bunch of grade 1 kids in your house after eating 2 pieces of birthday cake, 3 red freezies and a cream soda that don't listen to any adults! So chewing is a great way to reduce built up energy. Therefore bones for breakfast means I get a solid time to drink my coffee while they chew and the edge should hopefully be worn off and we can use our brains a little today.

Meet Chewie. He was named Chewbacca because he was born on May the 4th. His nicknames include: Chewers, Chewsiff, and sloth ( you have never seen anything move so slowly getting off the bed). Chewie is a rescue and we believe he is pitty and lurcher of some type. He is a fairweather dog and only likes outside if it is +20 and above with no rain or bugs. He can be found sleeping on the bed 23/24 hours a day. No he doesn't join us in our dog powered sports but his favorite is Agility. He has earned a couple Qs and better than that he is a true clown. If we cant find him we just need to find a warm sun spot often he takes his bed to the sun or in front of the wood stove. Oh ya he is now 7 . Chewie cannot handle puppies or the chaos that 6 huskies create so we often put him in the spare bedroom to relax for that reason our spare room is now called Chewie's room.

My collar making is improving. Just made Skye a new one as she lost hers in the yard. Time for a big girl collar. If you have a cloth collar you can paint your dogs info on yours too. You just need fabric paint ( I got mine at the dollar store) and a fine tipped brush. After it is dry put in the oven on a cookie sheet for 10 mins at 250 F to set the paint. I had to redo Hero and Maya's as the constant play has worn the paint off. They are next on the list for new collars.
