We had such a challenging public access visit yesterday! Thankfully these two did an incredible job navigating a very stressful situation 👏

We always visit Bone and Biscuit to get a “special cookie” when the dogs do their best work. Yesterday the second we got inside the door, we were charged by a loose kitty, who was not very happy to see the dogs.

We sat pinned to the front door while the very apologetic store employee tried to wrangle the angry kitty. There were hisses and swats while she continued to approach us. Both Ruby and Sharknado laid by my feet, and calmly walked behind an aisle with me so we could diffuse the cat enough to be caught.

I didn’t realize unfortunately, the aisle I went down lead straight to the cat’s cage. As we came around the end of the aisle, we were face to face with the poor employee who was holding the cat. With some difficulty, she got the cat back into her cage as the cat hissed, swatted and actively tried to get to the Sharknado - Sharknado tried to give it a kiss while it was trying to scratch her eyes out 💋😂😂

Even though this cat was highly reactive to them, they stayed calm, neutral and cooperative. Super proud of these two! We decided to walk across the parking lot to have our cookie 😆

This team has worked SO hard this last year! I am so proud of all three 👏

Last spring and summer, Claire and I spent countless hours working with these two to get them ready for hunting competitions. It is so wonderful to see all that hard work paying off 🥳🎉🎊

Nothing better than a pointing test in an amazing location!!! An incredible 2 days in beautiful Lilioot BC had us walking away with many valuable lessons, new friends, two WDJ titles completed and the first leg for both towards their FD!!!

Both dogs came through, but Huck had the most fabulous run. Such a good boy!

It’s a long one 🫣 but there was so much awesomeness, I couldn’t pick what to keep! So I kept it all 😂

* Sky and Pepper play time - you can hear me verbally correct Pepper for getting too physical with Sky. She likes gentle play. You can see her hackles go up as she becomes a little uncomfortable with his “body checking”. With a few guiding words to Pepperoni, Sky relaxes, and play can resume. This is why supervising play until the dogs are reliable enough to take over is so important.

* We saw a husky in Rona that was not very focused on his owners. Ruby did a very good job navigating this scenario. As we got to the end of the aisle, the husky began to pull towards us again and Ruby just about let her puppy brain get the best of her. However, she has become such a master of communication, she was super easy to coach with just my voice! Great job Ruby ❤️👏

Congratulations to Em Stobbe and her team over at Happy Hounds Kelowna 👏🥳

Em completed Apprenticeship programming in 2023 with me, and has continued to grow herself and her business. As part of her Apprenticeship here, she also earned her Training Certification with another program!

This year, she was able to leave her “full time job” and become a full time dog trainer!

If you’re in the Kelowna area, check this lady out! She is doing great things 🥰
