š¶ā¤MEET NOODLE!ā¤š¶
The sun was starting to fade toward the horizon...the wind growing stronger, the snow, at one point only tiny pin pricks in the cool air, grew larger - fat flakes that pelted your face.
We almost missed her.
We have been to this community so many times and we always make sure to stop at the homes of the people we have helped - including the owner of a kind gentleman who owns a big, chonky boy named King.
King was doing great. He was happy to see us and even happier to see the large bag of food we left on his owner's stoop - a gift we're sure would be appreciated when he got home from work.
But deep in the snow, huddled into a tight ball, where the plow had made a mountain of snow in King's front yard, was a furry body - hardly moving.
"Hey baby!" Emily, one of our volunteers spoke. We weren't sure if the ball of fur was alive...or something much worse.
But a tiny, thump, thump of a tail against the snowy ground - sending up a flurry of snow fairies into the crystal air gave us hope that this ball of fur was still hanging in there.
"Come here girl!" Emily said louder, stooping low and patient - a kind hand extended.
The fluffball stood up and stretched. At first we thought she was injured - but no - she was just stretching the cold out of her aching bones and slowly she ventured closer.
Our volunteer Lindsey, instantly called her Fluffbutt, because there was no other way to describe this sweet little creature - covered in gorgeous tan fur. Her bum wiggled with joy and trust and happiness and she instantly pressed her cold snout to Lindsey's leg, pushing into her hands as she gave her face pets. Then, gently she jumped up, wrapping her furry legs around Lindsey in a warm hug.
"We have to bring her back." Lindsey said as she and Emily met eyes.
Emily instantly turned toward the closest house, with people home, looking for an owner or someone who could tell us that YES, Fluffbutt could come with us.
Fluffbutt followed her like they were long lost best friends, finally reunited.
Luckily, Fluffbutt was signed over that day, and happily jumped in the crate before quickly snuffling through the warm blankets and promptly falling asleep.
Today Fluffbutt is now known as "Fluffy Noodlebutt" or Noodle for short and she is an amazing dog. She's spent time in foster - where we learned that she truly is the best girl:
ā¤She was just as great in a car as she was in the trailer back from the North.
ā¤She loves to play and is great with other dogs.
ā¤She LOVES to be outside and sometimes needs to be bribed (with treats!) to come inside.
ā¤She is pretty good on a leash, but still needs some work!
ā¤She things EVERY HUMAN is AMAZING. She holds no grudges, and just wants hugs!
ā¤She slept well in a crate and kept it clean. In fact, she's never had an accident inside!
ā¤She's good for the groomer and in fact smells like sunshine and rainbows now!
