This is amazing! I cannot wait to see the new facility

We’re thrilled to announce a monumental donation of $1.1 million from longtime supporter Gerda Fiesel to the RHS Animal Community Centre project and the Almost Home Capital Campaign.

"We are incredibly grateful for Gerda's remarkable contribution," said Lisa Koch, RHS Executive Director. "Through Gerda’s generous support of the Animal Community Centre, we will be able to expand our programs, community outreach services and ensure that every animal receives the care and attention they deserve. It will enable us to save more lives and make a lasting difference in our community."

In honour of this significant donation, the education wing in the new Animal Community Centre will be named the John, Gerda, and Minky Fiesel Centre for Humane Education & Wellness. While Gerda’s husband, John and their beloved cat, Minky have passed on, their memory will stay alive in the new Centre.

The Regina Humane Society acknowledges that the Animal Community Centre is only possible with the unwavering dedication and support of the community. The RHS offers its heartfelt gratitude to Gerda for her profound commitment to making a difference in the lives of animals.

Details on the RHS Animal Community Centre and its $15 million Capital Campaign can be found on the Campaign website www.rhsalmosthome.ca.

Your ticket purchase helps ensure that the RHS will be there for animals like Diesel, when they need us most.

Plus, you may get in on winning up to $10,000 in our main draw and up to $20,000 with our 50/50 draw.

Super important to get your pets spayed.

🐾Fun Fact Friday🐾

A big part of rescue is teaching the community to step up and help too. You don’t think that stray or feral cat chillin on your porch is your problem? Guess what it’s gonna be your problem when she pops out babies. Then those babies pop out babies. Then next thing you know you’ve got a colony! Did you know we have local low cost spay and neuter clinics that can assist you with TNR? Think ahead and prevent folks. Help us. Help them.

Did you also know our email inbox is full of requests for help? What do you do when the shelters are full and rescues are too overwhelmed to help. You research and you step up. Be the change folks!

Over the past few days, we have been reminded again about how caring, compassionate, and wonderful our community is. On June 15 we asked for your help. Our wet cat food cupboards were all but bare, and we had 34 cats arrive that day into our already crowded Shelter. In true Regina form, you took action. Pictured is just a portion of the food that has been donated since then, and we are told to expect more over the next few days.

We are absolutely beyond thankful and grateful, to you. And, we know the cats in our care are too. Thank you for ensuring that despite how hectic and busy daily life can be, they are not forgotten.

WELCOME (BACK!) TO RESCUE!

Meet Mustache! He is from a TNRM near Grunthal about 2 years ago. Mustache became very friendly after being relocated to a farm and unfortunetly had some urinary issues. Our working cat employers are some of the best pet owners, and knew it would be best for him to be adopted somewhere to be monitored. He is much better now, with no current issues, but is adoptable (in BC) to someone who will continue monitoring him for the rest of his life!

We are hoping to raise $270.00 to cover his vetting care.

You can donate to help cover the bills by e-transferring to: [email protected] (password donation) *tax receipts available upon request*

Or keep an eye open for all of our other fundraisers in the making!

Mature, Voluptuous Lady Seeking Life Partner:

As an 11-year-old lady, I've really come to know what I'm looking for in a life partner. My dream is to find someone who is willing to binge-watch our favourite shows while snuggling, someone that is always willing to make sure my dinner is on time, and someone willing to accept that I'm not a spry young kitten anymore. Even though I'm in my golden years, I have lots of love left to give and am hoping to find my perfect life partner to run up the rest of this beautiful life.

In my free time, I like to make buns, lay in the sun and enjoy a good pate - but by far my favourite past-time is cuddling. I have a lot of friends here at the RHS, but nothing beats finding your life partner, right?

For our first date, I'd love to meet up with you at the shelter and together we could enjoy some temptations or tuna and really get to know one another. I hope you don't mind, but I do like to cuddle on the first date.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Brownie

Last Friday, my friends Fergus, Steven, Cinnamon and I saw 15 other dogs go home with their forever families…and we weren’t picked. Sometimes I think I should be renamed “Whoopsie Daisy” because luck just isn’t on my side. I’ve been in shelter care since December, and it’s been full of highs and lows – but I’m ready to find my happy place.

Among my woes, I had a chat with a few of my favourite human friends at the RHS, and they made some magic happen and found some incredible donors to sponsor all of our adoption fees! These wonderful people have given me hope that maybe our luck is turning around!

For me…my dream is to find a family that loves to cuddle, loves to go for walks and is willing to accept me as their only pet. I have a lot of amazing qualities, but sharing you isn’t one of them. I promise to cuddle you enough for 10 pets, and constantly keep you laughing!

Fergus, Steven, Cinnamon and I don’t always show our best colors in our kennels, so why don’t you come meet with us and together we can frolic in the fresh green grass and hopefully…we’ll fall in love.

Will you share our post far and wide to help all of us find forever humans? 😊

Love,
Daisy”

RHS has some great advice!

Bringing home a new furry family member is an exciting time, but it can take some time for both of you to adjust - especially your pet. Although each pet will adjust at their own pace, this is a great general rule of thumb to know when adopting!
