🚨 Today is Animal Disaster Preparedness Day! 🚨

Disasters can strike unexpectedly, so it's crucial to have a plan in place for your furry friends. Here are some tips for different types of pets:

🐶 Dogs: Keep a sturdy leash and harness near their emergency kit. Have a recent photo and records in a waterproof container.

🐱 Cats: Have a secure carrier and include familiar items like blankets and toys in their kit. Ensure they are wearing ID tags.

🦎 Reptiles: Have a transportable habitat ready, with enough food and heat sources for at least a week.

🐭 Small Mammals: Include extra bedding, food, and water bottles in their kit. Have a secure carrier ready for transport.

🐦 Birds: Have a travel cage or carrier, and pack extra food and water. Ensure their wings are clipped for safety in times of disaster.

🐰 Rabbits: Include a carrier, extra bedding, and food. Have a safe space indoors in case of evacuation.

🐾 Don't forget! Our Pet Microchip Clinic is happening THIS SUNDAY, May 5th from 1 - 4 pm at our store located at 340 McCarthy Blvd! 🐶🐱 Running Wild Rescue will be on-site to provide microchipping services for your furry friends.

🔍 What does a microchip do? It's a small, electronic chip that's implanted under your pet's skin. This tiny device contains a unique identification number that can be scanned by veterinarians or animal shelters if your pet ever gets lost. It's like a permanent ID tag for your pet!

🌟 Why should you get your pet microchipped? Microchips greatly increase the chances of reuniting with your beloved pet if they go missing. Collars and tags can come off, but a microchip stays with them for life, ensuring a higher likelihood of a happy reunion.

Pet ID Week starts today, from April 17th - 23rd, highlighting the importance of having identification on your furry friends. One of the best ways to ensure your pet's safe return is through microchipping.

What's a microchip? It's a tiny chip, about the size of a grain of rice, that's inserted under your pet's skin between their shoulders. This chip contains a unique ID number that can be scanned if your pet ever goes missing, helping to reunite you both quickly and safely.
