A Tribute to Allan Clow
We are deeply saddened and shocked at the passing of a beloved KAOS member, Allan Clow. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, fellow KAOS members and KAOS students. Al was a shining beacon and ambassador of KAOS Dogsports and we will miss him terribly.
Al joined KAOS more than 15 years ago, with Cyndi, his Springer Spaniel. He has been a constant at KAOS Dogsports ever since. He has taught agility for 15+ years, course building, building maintenance, sat on the BOD, always willing to share his knowledge and wisdoms, and always the first to say yes and pitch in to help. He was always early and would have likely done the lion share of the work needed to be done before anyone else arrived. He loved working with the students and their dogs, introducing them to the sport of agility and helping them learn the ropes. He welcomed everyone with an open heart, huge smile and laughter.
Al’s first dog sport love was Agility. He traveled the province trialing, volunteering, course building and spreading laughter everywhere he went. Al and Cyndi competed at Agility Association of Canada (AAC) Regionals and even competed at AAC Nationals. Al and Cyndi also achieved their ATCH title (Agility Trial Champion of Canada), with AAC. Al and Cyndi also competed in CARO Rally-O achieving their CRN-CL (Novice Cum Laude, March ‘09), CRNT (Novice Team, Nov ‘11), CRACL (Advanced Cum Laude, March ‘11) and 2 of 3 Qualifying legs needed for their CRAT (Advanced Team, March’14) titles. Most recently, Suzy, his current Springer Spaniel, had started trialing in both AAC and Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) agility trials. They had become a real team and had competed and Qualified in both AAC and CKC trials.
Al loved dogs, all dogs, and had a special love of all spaniels. His love of spaniels stemmed from his childhood when they owned cocker spaniels. He often spoke of his wish to have another cocker spaniel one day. The only thing that rivaled h
