We have a couple dogs in our care that desperately need new homes

Wreaks is a 2 year male bouvier des Flanders x Irish setter. Extremely affectionate and loves his people. He would do best in a home without small animals (this includes cats). Wreaks gets along great with other female dogs but can struggle when meeting new males. Wreaks is a huge boy and weights 125lbs. He is up to date in his vaccines and is fixed. Would be best for a farm or property security work. Kenneled trained (can include kennel);and potty trained.

Ozzy has found a home
Ozzy is a 6 month old male pitbull mix. Very busy and Will keep you on your toes. Can be shy when meeting new people, but warms up very quickly and will lick you to death. Does very well with all kinds of dogs , unsure of cats or small animals. He has had is puppy shots and is not fixed yet. Working on kennel training and potty training.

Both dogs have completed behaviour training with us and will need families willing to up keep the training.

I had the pleasure of meeting nova 4 years ago. She was kicked out of another salon, very distressed and soaking wet. Her parents called me in a panic to get her finished up.

Who would have thought 4 years later. Tons of time, little bit of knowledge and she’s by far the best dog I groom. Gets on the table herself, tell her bath and she runs upstairs and puts herself in the tub. I enjoy every minute I get with her. Thanks for being the best dog ever Miss Nova.

Ps it’s her birthday tomorrow! Happiest birthday Nova.

Angus and his family really struggled to find a groomer who would be willing to work with chow chows when they moved to Regina about 6 months ago. Poor boy ended up a little matted but Nikky remember her magic wand today. Welcome to the Classy Canine family!

CLUES TO BEING THE WORLD'S LONGEST LIVED DOG! 🐶

Maggie, a 30-year old Kelpie from Australia🇦🇺 was reportedly the oldest dog in the world from Victoria, Australia. Brian McLaren (Maggie’s guardian) shared with us that she spent her days working on his dairy farm among sheep and cattle, running on average 12.5 miles a day, seven days a week, for two decades!

In our book, The Forever Dog, she is one of the many examples of long-lived dogs that spent ample time outside on a daily basis, got plenty of exercise, had a low-stress lifestyle, and consumed some raw, unprocessed foods. And though genetics certainly plays a role, it is no coincidence that the one consistent variable among all of the oldest dogs in the world was daily rigorous exercise - rain, snow or shine.🌧❄️☀️ And while most of our dogs aren’t working a dairy farm, there are simple things we can do to improve our dog’s health and longevity.

In our interview with Dr. David Sinclair,👨🏼‍🔬 the world’s leading geneticist from Harvard Medical School shared, just keeping our dogs lean and giving them 5-10 minutes of breathlessness every day, heart-thumping exercise, can contribute to slowing down the aging process.🧬

We love our snow breeds! ❤️

❄Let’s talk about SNOW BREEDS for a second!❄

And why we see returns of these breeds... 🤔

Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Akita, American Eskimo...all are examples of snow breed dogs. 🐕

These winter-beauties excel in cold climates, often have thick, double-layer coats and even snow-repellant paws.⛄

Sometimes it is a result of falling in love with the ‘idea’ of a snow breed, or their distinctive physical features, but most often it’s a simple case of not being educated on the breed traits.

We thought we’d provide some education from our experienced owners below.👇This isn’t intended to scare anyone off, but rather just be real 😊

❄1 - Snow breeds are MOUTHY. They’re bred to communicate with one another in blizzardous conditions and are prolific howlers. Don’t be surprised if your little husky baby has a BIG voice and likes to use it! 📣Expect ‘talking back’ if they are told to do something they don’t like. They’re also physically grabby with their mouths; they might bite onto hands to lead you where they want to go, or show affection. Due to their large size, this can sometimes be an issue with vulnerable persons such as small children or the elderly.

❄2 - They require a LOT OF EXERCISE; snow breeds are runners by nature. Full of energy and built to withstand extreme weather conditions, a short walk around the block won’t cut it for these frosty-furbabes, they need at least an hour or two of vigorous exercise daily, or they will exert their pent-up energy with destructive behaviours. They’re not best suited to off-leash environments or farm/acreages - given the chance, they will wander for miles.🐾

❄3 - They are HIGHLY INTELLIGENT, and sometimes STUBBORN. Don’t underestimate their ability to break out of spaces, ignore a command, or push their boundaries to learn which humans mean what they say, and which can be manipulated or ignored!🙄 Respect training and absolute consistency are a must to ensure this breed knows who's boss.

❄4 - The SHEDDING IS REAL. Often snow breeds have a double-layer coat to withstand sub zero temperatures. Expect shedding all year round, and prepare yourself for a lot more during molting season.🐶

❄5 - They need SPACE. Snow breeds are not fans of being penned up or locked away. They are not well suited to apartment life or homes with no backyard. Left inside too often with only bathroom breaks and a daily walk will not fulfill their natural drive to be outdoors, and may become destructive. A home with people home often to let them in and out to play is best.🏞

If you are prepared to deal with the above, then they are one of the most loyal, loving and beautiful dogs to own! 💕

Groomers oath! Words we live by everyday.

”A groomers oath”

When your pet is young and wiggly, I promise to make every grooming experience a positive one. From their first intro to grooming until they are so old they can't stand up anymore, I will be there for them.

From terrified rescue dogs who flinch at everything to the unsocialized dingos with no manners, I will be there for them. I will gain their trust, reform their behavior, and educate their owners.

I will Always put the comfort of your pet first...even if this means grooming them on the floor because they can't stand up anymore...even if this means arguing with the owner of a matted pet about shaving it for it's own well being & benefit...even if this means having to send a pet home and taking a pay cut because it was unsafe for us to continue. Your pet will ALWAYS be put 1st.

I will do my very best to remain as educated in my field as possible. I will know what to do with your pet in the case of an Emergency, and I will always refer you to a veterinarian whenever care beyond my means is necessary.

I will be there for you when the delicate time comes to say goodbye. And I will cry with you, because I love your pet as one of my own. This is the pet groomers promise.

We have now been working with Sadie for about 2.5 years. I had the pleasure of meeting her and her family after Sadie had struggled with grooming at other salons. Sadie is a shy gal which causes her to be more stressed in situations where she doesn’t understand what is being asked of her, triggering a fight/flight/freeze fear response . Mom stated that she always had to stand with Sadie to keep her calm for grooming. I insisted I could handle her and I would call if any issues. When I started working on Sadie I worked very slowly as to gage her response to the various parts of grooming and what set off her fear response. We discovered her legs, feet, blow dryer and nail trimming is what she most feared. We were able to work with Sadie within her threshold to keep her comfortable and happy during the process. Slowly though counter conditioning, we were able to increase Sadie ability to handle these stresses, so much so, Sadie stood perfectly today with no restrains, allowed me to handle each of her feet for clipping and trimming, stood proudly as I took the clippers down her legs and let me cut her toe nails(I even got some kisses). I’m so very proud of Sadie and her progress.

We are so super excited to announce that we have found a bigger home based salon and just finished getting everything set up today, we will now be operating permanently from 1904 Saint Johns street, steps away from downtown Regina. Please park and come in the back.

Reminder: we require a 12 hours noticed for all cancelled appointments so we can fill the spot with another client who’s been waiting and it takes away from our income if it can’t be filled in time. Going forward we will be charging half the appointment costs for all no show/no call after the 12 hour mark. Thank you for the continued support!

Great saying we live by everyday! We get calls for aggressive pets all the time and out of the hundreds, we have had 2 true aggressive dogs we have groomed over the last 8 years. We still love them dearly, every pet deserves a spa day at classy canines.

So proud of Miss Dolly today. She’s had a pretty tough life and being a chi mix doesn’t help. She has been kicked out of most of the grooming salons in Regina and had been recommended for sedation for future grooms. The 1st groom we couldn’t even pick her up and nikky got bit. We didn’t hold it against her. She’s now been groomed by us twice and we have a totally new dog. Defiantly best friend now. Hats off to you Dolly. What a good girl. Why we do what we do. From fear aggressive to cuddle bug 🥰
