We are thrilled to introduce the newest member of our ACAH team, Dr. Noah Dupont. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dr. Dupont is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Northern Kentucky University in 2020 before attending the Ohio State University College of veterinary medicine. After graduating, he decided to move to Ontario with his partner who had such a positive experience here at ACAH that Dr. Dupont reached out and, happily, became part of our team! 👨‍⚕️

Becoming a veterinarian has always been Dr. Dupont’s dream, and his passion was cemented when he saw just how important pets are in supporting mental health. While he enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, he has a special interest in caring for older cats.🐈‍⬛

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Dupont enjoys spending time at home with his partner and their cat, Osmond. He also loves hiking🥾, playing video games with friends🎮, and exploring the world of coffee and espresso☕️. We’re delighted to welcome him to our ACAH family! Please comment a warm welcome below. 😊😊😊

Treating a Hot Spot with 🌈Phovia Light Therapy👩‍⚕️

Recently, we treated a patient with a hot spot. For the pets, comfort and safety, we administered sedation before carefully shaving the affected area. Once the skin was exposed, we cleaned it thoroughly and applied Phovia light therapy. 🌈

Phovia is an innovative treatment that uses a combination of topical gel and a special light source. Together, they stimulate the skin’s natural repair mechanisms, reduce inflammation, and accelerate tissue healing. This helps the affected area resolve more quickly and comfortably. 🥰

After treatment, the sedation was safely reversed, and our patient was able to go home the same day, already feeling more comfortable❤️🐕

It’s a common question: “If my cat stays indoors, do they still need vaccines?” The answer is yes, and here’s why:

Even indoor cats can be exposed to certain viruses through open windows or contact with people and other animals in the home. Vaccines help protect them from serious and preventable illnesses.
Kittens should start their vaccine series at around 8 weeks of age, with boosters every 3–4 weeks to build strong immunity. Core feline vaccines include: FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia), Rabies, and FeLV.

Keeping your cat vaccinated is a simple way to support a longer, healthier life.

Got questions about your cat’s vaccine schedule? We’re just a message away!

Puppies need a series of vaccines starting at around 8 weeks of age. These are given roughly every 4 weeks to help build strong, lasting immunity during their most vulnerable stage.

Core puppy vaccines include: DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza), Leptospirosis, Bordetella, Rabies and Lyme (If requested or recommended by their veterinarian).

Once your pup completes their initial vaccine series, they’ll move on to routine boosters, usually once a year to keep that protection going strong.
