Say hello to our resident bunny, Baby Bun Bun!
We want to thank everyone for following her journey and for voting on a name for her. Baby Bun Bun had the most votes!
Her backstory:
Baby Bun Bun was brought in after suffering a bird attack and was deemed to be too injured to be adoptable. Rather than euthanizing her, the team collectively treated and rehabilitated her to great health! Through all their hard work, dedication, compassion and love, Baby Bun Bun has made a fantastic recovery and is ready to be adopted into her forever home 🏡.
Please let us know if you are interested in adopting her. She has taken very well to litter training and as part of our continued dedication to her care and wellbeing, we will be providing her new owners with a complementary spay for Baby Bun Bun!
Forever in our hearts 🐾. Saying goodbye to our beloved furry friend, Yuki. You brought joy, comfort and countless memories to our clinic and to our team. Your paw prints will forever be etched in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear friend. 💔
Our thoughts and prayers are with your wonderful pawrents, Jess and Leo💜.

Happy Lunar New Year from the Little Paws Team 🧧🏮🥮🐉
English translation:
Hi everyone, I’m Dr. Michael.
Hello, I’m Paaksum.
We are from Little Paws Animal Clinic, located in Steveston, Richmond.
We have a diverse team that offers services in Mandarin and Cantonese.
Wishing everyone a Happy Lunar New Year, good health and fortune!
Once a month, we’ll be spotlighting a Q&A session with Dr. Adam! Send us a clip with your burning pet questions about health, behaviour, or hygiene. No question is too small 😻.
Meet our team:
Samantha, our wonderful receptionist, has been part of the Little Paws family since April 2020 and has worked with animals her entire life. She had attended West Coast Collage of Health Care in 2014 and has been working in the veterinary field ever since!
Sam’s support team at home included her lovely 17 year old tabby, Tigger, as well as her mini Aussie x Cavalier, Skylar.
Fun fact: Sam and her lovely fiancé will also be tying the knock soon as well as Skylar will be celebrating her 11th birthday tomorrow, June 29! 🥳

Mochi after her Rhinoscopy! Happily eating away~ She's definitely more comfortable now that the object is cleared from her nose ☺️
Here is the video of the piece coming out of Mochi's nose~
This is Rodney- a 3 year old ferret who LOVES his homemade protein shake! Today he came in for a wellness exam, and we happened to hear an arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm)! Hence, we decided to perform an ECG (a test that looks at the electricity of the heart) to investigate the arrhythmia.
Rodney was the best boy as we placed ECG leads on him! Too busy enjoying his snack to notice! Results are still pending for this little guy ~

Baby protects his teddy bear at all times. If you take the teddy bear out of his carrier he will seek it out and bring it back. Once it’s back in his carrier, safe and sound, he will come out and say hello. Too cute 🥰
Dr. Adam and our technicians are now qualified fear free professionals! We are one of the only clinics in the lower mainland to provide fear free visits in addition to AAHA standards of care. Fear free certification requires completion of a certification course that teaches our professionals how to provide low stress, anxiety free visits for both the pet and their parents. More information to come.
Never compromise your pets health, both emotional and physical #LittlePaws
Case of the month:
This little bunny 🐰presented to us for having a reduced appetite for the last few weeks, and had started to only eat pellets and not hay.
On the examination:
🔑 A class 1 malocclusion was found:
This is where one or more of the teeth are in an abnormal position.
💡 In these cases, it is important to check inside the mouth to make sure the teeth you can’t see (the molars) have abnormal appearance. Luckily in this case the molars were fine.
🔧 An incisor trimming was recommended and Dr. Adam was able to successfully trim these teeth without sedation. This bunny can now eat hay happily!
🙌 Routine trimmings were recommended every 3-4 weeks to maintain a normal tooth length and ability to eat. Alternative options are to remove the incisors and feed a chopped hay diet long term!
