Snowball buildup on your pet is totally normal when you live in Alberta! Its pretty cute seeing your pup looking like Frosty the Snowman, but, did you know these snowballs can influence your pets coat and skin health?
When they come back inside, the snow melts on their coat (and your floor!) and can cause their coat to start to tangle and matt. The coat can also hold the moisture, allowing bacteria to grow and can cause an array of skin problems and odours.
What can you do?
-towel dry the snowy and wet areas when they come inside
- gently brush these areas once they are dry to comb out any tangled hair, which will prevent matting to form and debris to gather
- keep longer hair trimmed to avoid larger snowballs from forming (We can help you with this!)
- keep an eye on areas that come in frequent contact with the snow to ensure the hair is not holding moisture and allowing bacteria to grow
