Apparently a chew toy doesn't have to be chewed to be enjoyed. They last much longer this way. 😁 This is Bentley.
Oh the Joys of intact dogs. Meadow and Gemma are in their fall heat, 2nd week of 3. The testosterone level in the boys are at high right now. Biology lesson: 2 heats a year, each 3 weeks or so long. Alot of the time the females come in heat at the same time. The first week slowly builds to the fertile 2nd week and tapers off in the 3rd week to end the cycle. The males' testosterone level builds along with the female's cycle up to a frenzy at the prime time. We have had the boys separated from the girls for the last several days to be on the safe side. Last couple days have been the prime time going by the boys reactions. (I know some would hope for an accident😁) They had been watching the girls run around outside for the last hour. The girls are now in the porch but the boys, sadly, don't know that but will soon realize that once again.
A little bit cooler day to relax outside. The mosquitoes and black flies arent too bad today with the wind. Heart wasnt taking any chances...she is sleeping inside.

One of our pheasants needed to be in the infirmary pen for a bit. Was hoping she didn't decide to peck at the dogs and lose her head. They were counting on that.
Two dog birthdays this past week. Ivy turned 8 on February 27th and Gemma was 5 yesterday.
I have been unwell for most of September and all of October. Sciatic issues and then the flu. Walking mostly pain free now and no coughing is so liberating and a blessing. Dont take your health for granted. 😊🧡
May and November have always been my favorite months! I enjoy cool temperatures and no bugs. Preparing for winter inside and out is so satisfying and then in May everything springs to life. I have to admit I am enjoying the idea of no litters coming up for now. I am thinking of trying to train these guys to pull a sled. No idea how but YouTube knows everything. 😁If gas gets too expensive, we could take the dog sled to town for groceries.😁
