Happy International Dog Day! 🐾

Today we celebrate the dogs who make our lives brighter,the ones by our side now, and the ones who will always hold a piece of our hearts. 💛

This beautiful girl is feeling fresh and fabulous after a much-needed deshedding session!

All that undercoat is gone and she’s ready to enjoy the rest of the summer in comfort. Regular grooming is essential for double-coated breeds to stay cool, healthy, and looking their best — and I love being part of their care routine.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far! ☀️ I’m currently booked several weeks out, so don’t forget to plan ahead. Prebooking for the remainder of the year is highly recommended to ensure your pup’s spot is secured.

🇨🇦🎉 Happy Canada Day! 🎉🇨🇦

From my family to yours, I hope today is full of joy, celebration, and quality time with the ones you love, two-legged and four-legged alike!

As the fireworks light up the sky tonight, here’s a reminder to take a few extra steps to keep your pets safe and secure:

🐾 Keep Dogs Indoors
Even if your pup is usually okay outside, fireworks can cause sudden panic.
Bring them in well before dusk to prevent any chance of escape.

🐾 Secure Doors, Windows & Fencing
Make sure your home is locked down, spooked dogs can squeeze through surprisingly small spaces or dart through open doors.

🦮 Double Check Collars & Harnesses
Ensure they’re snug and secure.
If you do need to take your dog outside, use a leash even in a fenced yard.

🐾 Update Tags & Microchip Info
If your dog gets loose, having current contact info on their ID tag and microchip greatly increases the chances of a safe return.

🐾 Create a Safe Zone
Set up a quiet space in your home where your dog can retreat. Close the curtains, turn on background noise like a fan, TV, or music to help buffer the sound.

👀 Supervise Outdoor Bathroom Breaks
Take them out before the fireworks start, and stay with them if they need a bathroom break during the evening, don’t let them out alone.

Remember, even confident dogs can react unpredictably to loud bangs and flashes.
Let’s keep them as comfortable and safe as possible tonight.

Meet our newest furry friend at the municipal pound! This adorable male Doodle, sporting a stylish blue collar, was found wandering around Caron and Laurier Street in Rockland. Thanks to a kind-hearted resident, he's now safe and sound with us.

We’ve already seen ticks on dogs this season, which means it’s time to get serious about prevention and awareness.

Why worry about ticks?
Ticks can transmit harmful diseases like Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, and anaplasmosis — and it only takes one bite.
They’re commonly found in tall grass, wooded areas, leaf piles, and even in your backyard.

Important reminder:
Even if your dog is on flea and tick medication, they can still pick up ticks. Many preventatives don’t repel ticks — they kill them after they bite.
That means you might still find a tick crawling or attached before it dies.

Where to check on your dog:
Ticks like warm, hidden areas.
After outdoor time, inspect your dog:
• Around the ears and eyes
• Under the collar and around the neck
• Between the toes and under the legs
• Around the tail and belly

Helpful ways to reduce tick risk:
• Do daily tick checks — especially after walks or time outside
• Keep your yard maintained: short grass, no brush or leaf piles
• Use tick combs or grooming brushes regularly to catch anything early
• Consider natural tick-repelling sprays

Stay proactive and keep your dog safe — early prevention makes a big difference.

Happy Family Day! ❄️🐶❤️

I hope everyone made it through the snowstorm safely and is able to take a moment today to slow down, breathe, and enjoy time with the ones who mean the most, whether they have two legs or four.

Family comes in many forms, and for so many of us, our dogs are at the heart of it.

Some pups can’t get enough of the snow, while others would rather stay curled up inside where it’s warm.
