We are encouraged by a letter from The Canadian Kennel Club to its members that suggests some changes to come in the New Year that will help our US Clients. What we hope to see is a change to the CDC rule that says a dog must be 6 months of age to travel from Canada to the US.

XYLITOL - It's in more than you think: You've all heard that XYLITOL is toxic to dogs. But did you know it's become increasing popular as an ingredient in SKINCARE products? I don't want this stuff in my home and my dogs and I are very close. They surely do lick my face and hands, from time-to-time.
A quick search for "skincare with xylitol" revealed an ocean of products for face & body that contain this safe-for-humans, but toxic to dogs ingredient.
Please read labels.

Addressing over-vaccination. We follow Dr. Jean Dodds vaccination protocol. See the comments thread for a statement from her site. I have personally fired vets for pushing vaccines I don't want my dogs to have and for insisting on annual boosters. The only vaccine that is legislated, is rabies & after the first annual booster it does not need to be repeated for 3 years.
I choose vets who listen & work for me. I am paying them for their service, so they work for me. I am my dog's only advocate and I will not do just anything a vet tells me to do without questioning the necessity of the treatment or preventative.

Veterinarian Dr. Jean Dodds' canine vaccination protocol. This protocol is offered for those companion dogs where minimal vaccinations are advisable.
