This allows for a more relaxed experience for your pet and zero travel time for you! I now offer grooming at my home as well if preferred!! As always, it is a one on one session with your dog and myself.
WHY HAVE MY DOG GROOMED IN MY HOME? I began my grooming career in a veterinary clinic in Oakville. While there I observed that many dogs were very stressed being in an enviroment where they were in a room with other animals. I started grooming a couple of these dogs in their own enviroment and discovered that they were much more relaxed. Although grooming was still not their favorite thing to do, they were less anxious and owners reported less stress induced behaviours since they were already home....such as hiding, shaking, etc. Since 2007 I have been travelling to my client's homes and all have mentioned how convenient it is that they no longer have to leave their pet somewhere, how relaxed the dog is, how nice it is to know that their dog is getting one on one loving (and the dogs love it too!)
Most pets I work with are small to medium breeds, most in the weight range of 5 - 50lbs. Small breeds such as toy poodles (& poodle mixes), cocker spaniels (and their mixes), and other dogs in this size range in price from 70 - 80 for a full groom depending on coat condition and length. Larger breeds range from $80 and up depending on the breed and size of the dog. Double coated dogs start at $100. ISN'T GROOMING GOING TO MAKE A BIG MESS? Honestly....yes it does. When clipping and drying there is always a mess! However, my goal is to leave the space I work in as clean as I found it. This obviously involves sweeping up the hair off the floor, and quite often involves wiping down counters, etc. WHERE DO YOU WORK? I usually work in a bathroom or a laundry room provided there is a tub for bathing and there is adequate space for me to work. There's been many combinations of rooms I work in, but usually it's a bathroom or laundry room. WHAT DOES A FULL GROOM MEAN? A BATH? A full groom includes a full clipping (if required) or a full brushing (dependent on the dog's coat and owner's wishes). Nails trimmed, a**l glands expressed, ears plucked and cleaned if desired. A bath in aloe based shampoo which is not soap based and therefore gentler on your dog's skin, a blow dry and a final clipping/trimming. The whole process takes about 2 hours from start to finish. A bath consists of a full bath/brushing of the coat, nails trimmed, a**l glands expressed and ears plucked/trimmed if desired, and a blow dry and final brushing. A bath is possible on all dogs provided their coat is not matted. I endeavour to groom your pet according to your wishes, so that you are happy with your dog's final look. I'll be honest with you if I feel it is not possible based on your dog's coat condition and will work with you to get your four-legged child looking their best!
